I normally don\'t post negative news about other consoles, but i\'ve been saying that the x-box will either

1.) Be delayed
2.) or be Debuffed to reach a resonable price

well, at least in europe it took option number 1

see daily radar
http://www.dailyradar.com/news/game_news_6376.html

make sure you read the article, and read this quote: "The demand for Xbox is so high that we have revised our forecasts and we feel that we can ship many more units this way. We were always going to build a factory in Europe, but we have brought it forward slightly."

Boy are they full of themselves and are in for a big surprise, I expect a delay in japan and possiblily the US into 2002.... I\'ve been doing some good predicting lately, first "Something Fishy in March" now "X-Box Delays"
I should become a game system forcaster :)

what I find interesting is the fact that the x-box uses generic parts... why would they have to delay it if its hard to make enough of them. There is another reason

1. The GPU is not generic.

2. I think it\'s a bold move! They came out and said the demand is there and they don\'t know if they can meet a Global launch!

What do you want them to do? Launch a system and not have enough for the demand? At least gamers from Europe will have a console on launch day!

Oh I agree 100%! I just like the fact that they were being honest. People will not wait they are going to buy a PS2 if they want to play those games! I have one now cause I\'m not waiting to play madden 2001 for Xbox. When Xbox does come around though it\'s trade in time for me.

PS2 will always do well there is no denying that! I just liked the MS was admitting they didn\'t know if they can handle a global launch considering the demand.

I said a delay would happen, I was right
I now say more delays will happen

not cause of shortages, its cause they don\'t know how to keep the price at 300...
Keep in mind my track record is 2 of 2 now :)

Really? Then how do you explain the US/Japan launch which is still on schedule!

You were partially right, but only about Europe, and it\'s not really a surprise (so don\'t get too smug :D :p)

We all know the differences which exist in Europe, ones which mean EVERY new console arrives there last. Not only are there many different languages to cater for, but the TV system is also different (PAL). Therefore if the XBox launched in Europe along with the rest of the world, that would have been the first time EVER for a console.

Therefore whilst the XBox announcement is disappointing for Europeans (including myself in the UK), it has zero effect on the larger US/Japan market (except making sure the XBox doesn\'t suffer from PS2-like shortages!).

So much for their WORLDWIDE LAUNCH! :(

That\'s just crappy. Well, Europe bites the dust. AGAIN.

BTW, did you know that Europe bought more PSX than USA? And still we get f*cked every time.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!

Good move by a company intent on avoiding Sony\'s problems, or a sign of more bad news to come? Discuss.

" Xbox Delayed in Europe

Xbox: Microsoft has delayed the European
launch of Xbox until early 2002.

The machine was set to roll out throughout the world
in Q4 2001. But the company has decided to delay
the European launch until 2002, possibly as late as
March.

The British trade press was this morning coming to
terms with the loss of the year\'s big console launch;
few believe Nintendo\'s Gamecube will arrive in the
next 12 months. Officially, Microsoft is saying that the
delay has been put in place to avoid the possibility of
shortages. The company has watched the deeply
flawed launch of PlayStation 2 and has clearly learned
the salient lessons.

A European delay, while terrible news for European
games, is a prudent move. Mistakes made in the U.S.
and Asian launches can be rectified before the
European launch; and the company has given itself
manufacturing breathing space.

But it gives Sony a full 18 months to establish
PlayStation 2 as the dominant gaming brand in
Europe, including a second holiday season.

Speaking to MCV, Xbox European boss, Sandy
Duncan said, "The demand for Xbox is so high that
we have revised our forecasts and we feel tht we can
ship many more units this way.

"The downside is that the launch will miss Christmas
2001 in Europe, but this is not a problem. We have
spent time talking to the trade and the main thing is
that we announce a launch date and stick to it."

18MONTH lead for PS2 in europe? face it nintendo has NOT said when the euro launch will be and i guarantee you it will not be in 2001, with PS2 all alone in europe(for 18 MONTHS) it just can\'t be beat(there atleast)....

i\'m sure people will want to wait atleast 6months for MGSX:rolleyes:

well i guess it\'s offical:

SONY PS2 HAS WON EUROPE
. I\'ve said it before and I\'ll say it again, in terms of ingenuity, exclusivity, and console competition, X-Box brings nothing to the table except a fat wad of cash and some rehashed PC components wrapped with a DC controller and a plastic black box.----RYU
