well that may explain it, so you used it vertically without the vert stand? if so maybe since it wasnt as stable and the vibration made it shake more causing it to scratch?? maybe, and no it wont take as long if you send your ps2 in for a tune up, sony will mail it nback first priority, express, and you will get it back in about 1- 2 weeks i think, depends where you live, but they will mail it express.

Too late, I went to BEst buy where I bought it and exchanged it.

If you get a vertical stand it can\'t fall over. AND, little 6 year old siblings cant move it. ARRGH!
