im pretty sure you can return it, or send it to sony for them to fix it, if they cant, they will give you a new one, i have had my ps2 since i got it in its vert. position, and i havent had anyprobs at all,  but go ahead and call sony tell them whats uo, and they will hook you up
\"So are you going to kill her off?\"
Are you insane! I love her character, she stays.
\"The only thing loves done is put you in this position, I say kill her off!\"
Yeah, but you say a lot of things..
and how does that work....  You\'re a bicycle..

ARGH!  the EXACT same thing happened to me, i had SSX in, and the PS2 was in a verticle position, and then i changed to to being flat on the ground, and now it has a HUGE circular scratch on it, and it skip during gameplay sometimes and doesnt load the final race to one of the events, ITS FRUSTRATING

I had the same problem b4 with my Jap PS2....basically when you are in one position...vert or hori. DONT CHANGE IT...this makes a ring scratch around the CD and screws it up...but a cheap way to fix if you dont wanna return is to get the Game Doctor...removed the scratches and worked miracles for me...

Just don\'t move the PS2 while a game is running in it.

I can tell ya why I think there\'s a scratch in your CDs.
When you\'re moving the PS2, the laser is moving aswell and touches the cd, and because the cd is spinning, it puts a big circle scratch on it.

So I suggest you don\'t move the PS2 while a cd is running in it/

yeah i agree, if you read manual it warned that not to change position while game is running.
Do not worry about yesterday, because it is history.
Do not worry about the future, because it is a mystery.
Enjoy today to the fullest, because it is a gift.
That is why it is called the \"present\"....:smokin:

you can call SONY and ask them why it scratches your games. if you send it to SONY, you are going to have to pay for shipping which is $25+ via UPS with confirmation, insurance, etc. and you wont get it back within a month or 2..and they will most likely wont send you a new one...they will try and fix yours first and then if they cant fix it then they will give you a new one..

as ookima said get a game doctor if you have a scratch..but one thing he is wrong..it WONT ELIMINATE the scratch..you will still see it but what Game Doctor does is resurfaces the cd..as in smooth out the scratch so that when the laser hits the cd it wont bounce off the scratch..

go to a gamestore or a video store like sam goody, suncoast [i dont know what state or country you are located so i cant tell you exactly where to look at]..the price for the manual one [where you have to spin it yourself like a fishing rod] costs around $25-30..theres a new electric one called gamedoctor md which runs for $45-50

its guranteed to work IF the scratch isnt REAL deep..

you can EXCHANGE it at the store if they let you and if the store policy lets you do that
