A SOLUTION for those who have probs wif PS2 in vertical position
« on: December 24, 2000, 07:29:24 AM »
yes its frustrating but heres a solution. Take ur grubby hands wash them for a start and then handle ur cd\'s dvd\'s with care. Its probably when u slam ur cd\'s into the drive and u take it out and OH LOOK A BIG SCRATCH. i havnt had no probs with myn in vertical position so what it is is ur lack of care around cds. So stop blaming the ps2 when its really U

why have the ps2 in vertical?
it doesn\'t make any differance and you get problems with the cd\'s.
I am still waitin for my ps2 (gettin it tomorrow) and from comments like this i will have it in the horizontal position so it can\'t get knocked over either.

Okay zero, its all our fault, we treat our games like crap thats why they are scratched. That post was a waste you shouldn\'t even of said that. I think that was the stupidest thing I\'ve heard all month. I buy a game and then I treat it like ****, why would anyone do that.

dont pay any attention to him fackinkubuss..hes just grumpy cuz he doesnt get any love ? :shrugs:

and people put it vertical cuz its space saving and its looks cooler, and SONY built it to sit vertically.

so if they want it in vertical position let them be, if they dont take care of their games then let them be and let them spend ALL the money they want on new games or system for a fact

Mines always been in vertical no probs.. I think the reason disks are more likely to get scratched in vertical position is that the ps2 has a small centre of gravity in vertical position, so if its knocked or moved in this position its more likely to wobble the disk thus scratching it as it spins, giving it that circular scratch. Have you noticed that the DC has those little felt pads, my early jap DC version doesn\'t. So you could get some small thin felt pads, if you want like the pic below, mined you if its scratched at point 2 it might not help. Are you sure you or someone else didn\'t move or knock it. This is going to sound strange but I live in an old house if someone shuts the front door to hard it shakes upstairs, the same goes with the rickety floor boards.

or go here if image dont show.

i hve had it in vertical position since i bought it, thats why the ps2 is the ps2, when you see it in magazines is it horizontal... no... it vertical why... icauyse it looks awesome like that, and thats the way it was built to strand as well as horizontal, i have like 10 launch games, and none of them are scratched at all, maybe for tt since that was the first disk i had and it may have microscopic marks but thats it, i dont slam my cds into the tray and im sure that knowone else slams them either, if it scratches the disk it may be cause of wobbleing, or the vibration i have seen peoiple use it vertically without the vert stand and say they scratched there cd.. well isnt that obviouse ,maybe it shakes to much without the stand and makes it scratch , like the post above explains, he has a good point,. but im sure knowone in this forum mistreats thier ps2
\"So are you going to kill her off?\"
Are you insane! I love her character, she stays.
\"The only thing loves done is put you in this position, I say kill her off!\"
Yeah, but you say a lot of things..
and how does that work....  You\'re a bicycle..

Horizontal looks plain stupid and takes up almost a foot of space. And about the Horizontal Stand...WTF is the point of that. That plastic could of been used for plastic plates for someones head who may have been in an accident. Anyway...vertical rules. No probs with mone in Vert position BTW

Its simple. Don\'t stand the system vertical without a vertical stand. Make sure its steady. Don\'t move it around alot. Never move it around with a game in it. Never leave a game in, when you are not playing it. Do not toss the games into the tray and then push the tray in,etc.

Basically. Use common sense when operating your PS2.:)

I agree with ViVi. For just $15 (or less) you can save the lives of many innocent poor PS2 Games who have suffered the Vertical Scratch. Er...
