hmmm... AFAIK it has no "AUTO" STANDBY !
It is designed for running in Standby normaly, but I won´t let it on the whole night with "nothing" to do...
It just costs power ! It surely won´t hurt your PS2, but it´s useless...

So what about leaving a Video or TV on standby the whole night, surely that consumes power as well. A Playstation 2 on standby would consume about as much power as a digital clock (probably less), bottom line, you ain\'t gunna run up the electricity bill leaving it on.

No, you got me wrong... I would use the Standby also, it´s designed to do this!!!
I just won´t let it RUN the whole night (Fan Runs, DVD spins  etc.)

I definitely would not run a DVD all night because it will not shut down.  It will default back to the Menu and run that all night long constantly spinning your disc.  Constantly playing the intro.  I would Strongly suggest you don\'t do that.  It won\'t hurt it every once and a while, but I definitely wouldn\'t make it a habit.  I left my disc running all night the other night and that disc was pretty toasty..

yep that will heat that disk up like hot sheet straight out the donkeys ars, lmao but i would never let my preciouse ps2 run all night, that would take up power, over heat the ps2 and just make it crappy, get a plug timer it the best if your gonna do that

I wouldn\'t leave it on for a night also because when you wake up in the morning and want to play some games the PS2 is already hot because of all the work it has done over the night.

Then you play a game, for ex. SSX; you\'re getting the score of your life and leading the race by far in the finals just about to unlock Untracked; you\'ve made that far by luck and then all of a sudden the game freezes.

This has happened to me. I left PS2 over night by accident then I played Rayman Revolution and it froze. Gladly I didn\'t lose anything but it did annoy me and scare me at first.

I don\'t know was the freeze about the game itself or the console, but I quess it\'s the console. So I could be one hundred prosent sure it isn\'t about the console I won\'t leave it on for night ever from this day on :)

I guess there\'s nothing bad about it, I wouldn\'t try it though!

well i go standy bye mode then off shut down...
i\'m a bit scared of leaving it on standbye...well strange thing...i do put my tv, vcr and cable receiver unit(im not sure whats the term for it)...standbye on those three things...do not cause them very warm...the temp is well i would said hardly can be said warm......BUT incase of my PS2...i did leave it standbye for 1 night...and i feel that it was very warm when i touch the top side...the one is ps2 sign on it, i told you it is very very warm....next time i will try to measure the temp...
Well the warm is kind of warm of a bit less heat then i was playing games.....hrrrr...

So i wouldn\'t recommend of leaving it standbye...

i havent experience any lock up yet...
i don\'t wanna be a pie... :(
