Today I decided to do a little research about the casual gamer. The casual gamer is someone who really isn\'t into polygons, mhz, how powerful the system maybe, they are just worried about the games, and the "BRAND".
I asked my two brothers to come sit down with me for a few minutes while I asked them some questions. I told them what the X-Box was. After telling all about the system, all they could say was "HUH". They didn\'t understand nothing I said about the system. The polygon count, the MHZ it had, the graphics, nothing. They just said "huh", and so what.
I asked them why they wanted a PS2. They said because it had the same controllers, you could play your old games, and use some of your old software, and the PSone games were tight. So, this was the reason why PS2 will be sucessful because of the name "PS". It isn\'t the graphics, speed, polygons, it\'s the games they want.
I did a little more research as well......
My cousin and I went to Wal-Mart today, and I took him to the gaming section were they had an X-Box sign and PS2 sign standing. I asked him which one would he buy, he said the PS2 of course, I asked him why. He said because it\'s the Playstation, and Playstation has the games. I told him to look at the specs, he told me "So what". So I came to another conclusion that casual gamers don\'t give a damn about stupid specs, they are only worried about the name brand of the system. After we left some women took the sign down and put it in the trash.(X-Box sign)
Same thing I did with a N64 fan as well, they chose Gamecube over the X-Box. For the same reason as well.....
MS has alot of work to do, and the only way they can win, is when the PS2 makes a mistake. That\'s not going to happen at all. Sony cannot follow the path Nintendo made when they launch, because if they do MS has a chance of winnning.
E3 does not signal a win for a company.
