My PS2 passes drop test
« on: January 01, 2001, 03:01:19 PM »
I do not recommend anybody try to duplicate this test...

My son and I were playing Nascar 2001 earlier this morning when my son\'s female friend decided to cross over the DMZ.  You guessed it; the Playstation came crashing down from it\'s perch on my entertainment center.  Would you believe the game continued without so much as a hiccup?!  I\'d like to see my old Nintendo do that.

My wife picked the unit back up and set it back on the shelf from where it left.  My son and I continued our race uninterupted and had a good laugh after it was over.  Scary? You bet. But it just goes to show some of the quality and pride Sony takes in the contruction of their products.  Again, I don\'t advocate anyone try to duplicate this same acid test.

Cool man. Your lucky. Alot of people\'s PS2s have broken when they dropped.

Still, Nintendo makes the most durable consoles. My SUPER NES lasted years. I left it on a furnance and melted it and everything. Dropped it tons of times.
Pretty tough console!

Of all the luck.......

My PS2 has never been dropped and was wiped free of dust and other particles EVERY day, and it can\'t pass the "work-after-one-month-of-ownership" test.  Heh....

Mine is on its way to Sony for repairs.

The Gameboy is the most durable son of a thing ever.  I\'ve dropped mine at least 15 times, not even a scratch on it.

I agree, the gameboy is the most durable, mine has been dropped 20 times and I\'ve had it since it launched in Europe...
But my PSX has also taken a lot of beating but still works fine...
One time I dropped a pint of milk over it! Had to use a hair dryer for 45 mins, heh
I\'ve also dropped it 5-6 times and I\'ve had it for almost 4 years now :D

comfort you must have the 1 in a million ps2. I dont have one yet, but i bet that most people in this forum\' s ps2 would be broken if that had happened to their machine.
Just ot of curiousity, was it a european ps2?

Good luck d00d :)

Our house it can\'t get damaged from falling it\'s so close to floor.

Glad it is. Those situations do happen.

You still should have pummeled her about the face and head for potential damages.

Funny how much a small piece of plastic does for such an important machine. I brought my PS2 to my friends house and we set the PS2 on the floor with the vertical stand. His little brother trip on the DS2 cord! The controller cord just came out of the system, but the unit leaned forward. To my surprize the corners of the Stand caught the rug and it fell back in its original position. PHEW! Damn stand was well worth my $17 bucks! I highly recommend it. It looks hella cool too :).

I keep mine on the bottom rack of my sytem so if it falls it doesn\'t have far to go.  If mine fell I certainly wouldn\'t put it back up that\'s for sure.  How far did it fall?  Did it fall on carpet?  DId it fall on tile?  Did it fall on a ham sandwhich?
