The Media and How It Affects this next gen.

Some people say that Sony was all hype and that the only reason it is so popular is mainly because a demand was created for it and it was shown on basically EVERY news channel in North America [ when it was released here]. Gamecube and X box are a year [ roughly] away and the thing to wonder is will they get as much coverage and hype as Sony, most people would say Nintendo for sure or Microsoft or that none will come close to sony.
   First off lets look at what the general public [as of lets say 7 months ago b4 all the Publicaty that sony got][ not gamers ppl that don\'t know F**k all bout gaming], when ppl think of video games they immediatly associate them with Nintendo, in most cases substituting "VIDEO-GAMES" with Nintendo "Yeah my son always plays the nintendo" [ when in fact it\'s a sega or some other thing], people think that other than what is in the arcade [ what IS the where video games started] Nintendo is the only company that has Video Games and such. Most people Don\'t know kthe difference between an NES and a N64, they could care less ,and in most opinions these are just toys. When Game cubes release becomes a short reality I think that people arn\'t going to give a too sh!ts about a "new" Nintendo, most people will take one look at it and immidiatly think it\'s some little kids toy [ which indeed it looks like]. When the press goes to cover the Game Cube they will be covering all the comotion over the box and unlike sony where it is a ENTERTAINMENT MACHINE [ I didn\'t here one reporter not say "It plays Music cd\'s DVD\'s AND games the old ones and new ]it will be covered more so by all the "cute" mascots which undoubtibly be at every big launch party hugging kids and so on.  
      When the General; public think of sony they think of a a big ELECTRONICS  company that made there T.V\'s Camcorders VCR\'s Speakers [ not just now but since long ago], a company that is in most eyes a ELECTRONICS company competing with other electronics companies, RCA , Toshiba , ZENITH etc. People don\'t know what a "Playstation" is it\'s just another "Nintendo" if they have ever seen one. When reporters heard about this new "GIZMO" that could play DVD\'S CD\'S GAMES new/old and that it was sold out before it even left shelves, there was very high in demand on it , and was made by sony the respectible Electronics giant. the news was pretty "DRY" back in OCT except the election and news reporters where jumping on everything when people are camping out to get a new gizmo [ not toy atleast in most eyes] it\'s news, and good news at that.
Now last but not least Microsoft, the company that\'s world renound for it\'s monopoly\'s bill gates and it\'s money. It\'s hard to say what this system will get coverage wise because the advertizing [ atleast what 500 000 000$ of advertising looks like] hasn\'t started yet. It all depends wether the x-box will be advertised as a alternative to a computer this magic all in one  box [ like PS2] or somthing else [ which I think will happen]. I think it\'s fare to say it will get noticed and covered but it depends on wether or not it is released before game cucube because what ever one is released first will get all the glory.
