I think the vertical stand is cool. I\'ve had no problems with it. I am super careful with it though. As an added plus, it looks way cooler than the boring Horizontal stance. Just IMHO.

Wow that really sucks. My friend told me about some people having problems with placing the PS2 in the vertical position. I am also using the ps2 in its vertical position. I cant really say i had a problem with it since I only got it two days ago. But i dont understand why there would be a problem. I mean theres a groove in the cd tray that keeps the disk in place while in the vertical position. Well I hope nothing happens to my games or my ps2 in the vertical position. IF anething does happen, ill immediately place it on its horizontal position. You are using the vertical stand right? ............dont know if that makes a diff or not but u never know.
Oro?!?

I think it has more to do with the User then it does with the systemm.

Scratched CD\'s

After using my PS2 for a about a week, I got SSX ( UK PS2 ) the unit chewed the cd up and put a nice round scratch on the cd. Game would then not load.

took the risk and put a different game in, no problems, took ssx back to shop and got a replacement, ( with a bit of lying )

no problems since !!

I totally agree. The better you handle your Hardware and Software = The lesser chance of anything getting ruined. SO for god sakes people, handle your games and accessories with care :)

argggg...this problem again??!!?  hehe  Anyways I have this problem b4 with my Jap PS2, with the US ver. none.  y? cuz I found out what the main cause of it is! The main cause of having a circle/ring scratch around the disk is because the PS2 is moved during the Vert. position.  Buy a vert stand and stablize it.  The other main cause for a scratch like that is because the position is changed while the disk is in and the system is on...say when you are playing SSX or something, dont suddenly change it to Vert. from Horizontal or vice versa.  One way to repair the disk w/o exchanging is to get a disk surface repair kit, say the GameDoctor or something similar, it will buff the scratches away...did a terrific job for my TTT that had a ring scratch.

Man, you would think that the PS2 would work problem-free in vertical position, especially when that\'s what it is spec\'d to do.  While my unit wasn\'t responsible for scratching any of my discs in that position, it stopped reading games after a mere month (I\'ve been using it vertically since the day I bought it).  So I\'m not gonna buy "your PS2 broke because you were using it vertically."  That\'s a defect in workmanship.

I don\'t use my PS2 vertically for the looks.  I use it that way because of the space restrictions I have (I can either keep it on the floor where my brothers can step on it and kick it or next to my 25" TV on top of the dresser).
