S-video seperates the luminance from the chrominance to provide added picture clarity.  And yes, it is worth a measily $9.

Just make sure your TV has an S-video input.  I don\'t know how mant times this has been discussed before...

Yes it is, it is a standard above your RGB cables and does make the colors crisper. I wouldn\'t worry about buying the best S_Video cable money can buy like Monster Cables cause IMO you\'ll get similiar results with Sony brand at 1/2 the price

Dude do you not read what almost everyone is saying. Monster Cables do not provide enough of a difference to warrant there expensive price tags.

I have a monster S-vid cable and I would recommend a SOny brand S-Vid cable for 1/2 the price

With my monster cables the difference is noticed mostly in the sound. There is not much of a difference in video quality.

Just get the normal S-Vid cables.  You have half a new game with what you would save.

Guys, I\'ve got an RGB to S-Video adapter. So, if I use this with my existing RGB cable would that make the picture quality any better? I have a feeling that it won\'t, but I need a second opinion.

Shadow: Existing RGB cable?  It doesn\'t come with an RGB cable.  It comes with 3 rca cables, but one is video and 2 are audio.  Your adapter would require you to have an RGB cable for that to work.  It wouldn\'t be any better than just getting the S-Video cables to begin with.

AK:  S-Video is just video, hence the name.  You still need to use the two rca cables or buy optical cable for audio.

Phoenix:  Monster is a brand name of regular old cables.  They are a little bit better than normal ones, but much more expensive.  They make S-Video cables, RGB, etc...
