sinmce when is 20x\'s more powerful about graphics.

mis-conception here is 1st the full potential of the PS2 won\'t be relaized till  2004 or so

2nd, complex physics, real-time weather effects, animation and things like this are equally apart of that 20x\'s number  and since developers have never had a machine capable of all this  they\'ve never had a chance to practice all this so its all new to them. We\'ve seen what the big developers can do on there early attempts, and they\'ll continue the upward spiral in terms of a bettere complete videogame and that does not mean just FSAA, more polygons and less blurr.

I think too many of you\'s forget about all those equally if not more important aspects of videogames that Sony is trying to help developers realize, and its not going to happen overnight. Things move too fast in the business and expenses are high on all systems when creating the perfect game, and it will take time.

Unfortunately not many of us have  the patience but that is the reality. So chill out some

I think he\'s talking about the textures in ps2 games only, not polygon edges, so it doesn\'t have anything to do with jaggies as some people here think.  MGS2 has blurry textures AND jaggies. :) I\'m not sure I agree with mm about bilinear filtering being the devil either.  It really helps out on what I would call the medium-res textures.  Bilinear filtering makes it hard to see detail in low-res textures, and high res textures look pretty good without it, but in between there is a magical place where it rids you of pixelization without making it blurry.  Then again, maybe I don\'t play enough console games with their low-res textures to form an accurate opinion, or more likely, I just need to lay off the crack.

RickGuk, here are the possible reason:

1)  you tv is fault.  old tv.

2)  your cable\'s fault.  coaxial switch.

3)  mpeg-2 of metal gear solid 2 and gt3 bad transfer fault?  who knows.

4) quit whining about it maybe you are sitting too close to the tvs.  ps2 have 4 - 8 times the resolution of psx so i don\'t understand why there\'s blurryness.

5)  early development games, gt3 and mgs2 haven\'t comes out yet!  those are early versions.

6)  have you try playing a ps2 final version game yet?  I doubt it.  if you did, then you won\'t b1tch about the blurriness!
playstation 2 rules.  Nintendo Starcube Dolphin drools.  Hehehahahheheheh...

Ok i like the opinions and solutions, as for the fan boys getting ****y because i mentioned something bad about there pride and joy then you dont really need to be replying in a forum.

As for my tv, yeah it is new, very new infact. Like i said the blurred DOES exist whether you like it or not, i was wanting to know if every game will have these graphics and thanks to the decent replys it appears that it could be fixed.

Also im not complaining, i would prefer a sharp image to a blurred image, i was simply wondering about the ps2s graphical features.

I know it isn\'t as bad as the N64 and that these are first generation games but when paying for the latest console at its prices its a feature which i don\'t like.

The DVD movies aren\'t really a good source to go by for future games, howeven reguardless of the quality of the movie you can still see what the textures look like.

The games arn\'t so much as in BLURRY. It\'s the way developer make pixels or textures look smooth. It\'s called Alphablending and Tri/bi-linear filtering.

Not all games are blurry. TTT is quite sharp and has great textures.

Some games are blury some are not. This is in ALL systems that support the effects. I have DC games that are blurry. BUT. It depends on how much the developer uses them.

I personaly don\'t care, the PS2 is a very good piece of technology.  All I am saying is that is the reason people complain, while Sony released an incredible machine they promised a god.
In so many ways we live to follow the sun
In so many ways we exalt and fail as one
In so many ways we want so bad to be done
In so many ways we show our pain in unison

Yes, I agree with ddaryl, soulgrind and paul here.

if I\'m playing an addictive and good game, like TS or Rayman Revolution ( or SSX ), I just don\'t see that the textures are blurred. I just feel the experience.

I don\'t know why ppl are complaining about these minor things, they don\'t affect the gameplay... or maybe they even do. The game\'s much smoother that way.

oh god I can\'t understand why ppl babble about graphics so much. Learn to respect a game from different point of views. or a console.

of course everyone was expecting much but we got still a friggin\' good console. so why to complain?

You can\'t blame \'em, it\'s the nature of gamers. It\'s either the gameplay or the graphics. PS2 is still at it\'s early age and developers are still figuring a way to program their games more optimally. It\'s just a matter of time until other developers discover PS2\'s secrets to better graphics too.

Yeah i\'ve seen rayman in UK EB stores.

Everyone keeps raving on about this game, but its a platformer right so doesnt that mean that a hardcore gamer will have it completed in a few ? :D

I might check it out :)

hmmmm... few days? if you want to find EVERY secret possible to find out, you\'re gonna play this game for about 40 hours.. and I\'ve completed half of the game; it gets progressively harder and harder; and easy this game is not anymore!

Hmmm... it has this certain atmosphere, so if you\'re even a little bit into platformers I suggest you to buy the game. This sure beats Mario 64 in any way... and is harder...

Hmmm... Hardcore gamer are you? :)

Even if you are, then this is THE platformer to own...

Hmmm... what more can I say? You gotta experience the game for yourself...

jesus christ you guys are so fussy.
i remember the days of mario on the nes. i dont remember hearing any of you moaning about the graphics then. I\'m sure that in the future a way will be developed to enhance the graphics further but jesus christ it dont happen overnight.
