Out of all the series, FF VII is the best of them all (thats what i think :D ). If you are looking for a great gameplay, you should buy FF VII, but if you are looking for the great storyline, graphics and lots of state of the art FMV sequences, you should buy FF IX.

If you are having a hard time dealing with these choices...just rent both and decide which game you like best.

The choice is yours.....

Buy FF7.  It\'s 20 bucks, and it\'ll take you a good 40 hours to finish and it\'s addicting as hell.  Then go into FF9 and have the time of your life, just dont expect a special ending cuz it\'s uhh... pretty lame.

hmmm.. I don\'t know wich of those two you should buy but I think FF VII is the best FF can offer...

but I haven\'t played FFIX yet so I can\'t say :)

still FFVII is cheap, so buy it first.

Ok, let\'s face it.  Final Fantasy IX is the best of the series by far.  I own all three.  I played all 3 for playstation, along with the ones for SNES, and good ole nintendo.  I\'m not saying FFVII is a bad game, and it is certainly not, but in comes in second place.  The characters were rather dull in FFVII, but it is still a great game.  Priced at $20, you should be able to pick it up whenever you want.  I suggest if you want, you play them in chronological order.  But FFVIII is a bit different from the other two. (it\'s a lot more complicated than VII and IX) I\'d say the funnest one and most addicting is IX.

BTW, there is a special ending if you have the hammer and beat Hades.  You do know that right?

get ff3/ff6 if you can (ff anthology) otherwise get ff7 cause it\'s cheap and that way if you don\'t like it it won\'t be a huge loss.  FF9 it think is as good at least so if you like ff7 go get ff9 to.

Yah, but they are both piss poor, square just got REAL lazy and it shows.  I could go into detail at which part of the ending pissed me off as to hate the whole thing, but grr... people haven\'t beaten it yet!

And what preytell was bad about 7\'s ending?  I\'ll admit it needed more about what happened to the characters, but it was no where NEAR as bad as 9\'s.  At least 7 had an epic atmosphere whereas 9, I saw that ending and just went "La-di-fricking-da!"  Happy go lucky perfect hollywood endings never satisfy me.

To each his own eh? After all the crap I went through in VII and how attached I was to the characters, that ending was completely unsatisfying. Not to mention the whole ending scenario was a piece of ****. That whole 3rd disc was a waste and a rushed ending. I won\'t mention why I did like IX\'s ending for the sake of the person who started this topic. No need for spoilers.

Remember the old FF endings? Those were endings, and VII\'s was nothing close to that.

Sorry I couldn\'t bare to complete that horrid so-called FF game. By the time I reached the 3rd disc I was so bored out of my mind I had to quit.
