Where can I find a decently priced Dolby Reciever???!!!
« on: January 06, 2001, 05:45:30 PM »
I want to buy a Surround Sound reciever, but I dont want to pay a lot, and I don\'t want a movie theater in my room. Just a simple, CHEAP, good sounding Surround Reciever. ANy brands will do. I\'m just looking for some suggestions. Thanks in advance :) -Matt

Dayum!  That\'s a great deal if ya ask me.  Stick this on the list for all those that want a home theater but have a tight budget.

yeah, i was pissed when my bro walked in the house with this, as i paid almost twice that for mine a year ago.  oh yeah, nice to see things getting cheaper.  now if only the cost of gasoline would go down.  1.60/gal here and im sure its higher in other parts of the country. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Looks like a decent "on-a-budget" system.  Take note that it only has 3 a/v inputs though so make sure that\'s all you need.  It should be fine for most people.  DVD/VCR/PS2 would fill it up quickly.  If you were to plug more game systems into it, then you may have troubles.  On mine I have plugged in DSS/LD/DVD/VCR/PS2...  So make sure you have what you need.

Wow, forgot about that M. Wards closing, thanks for the info jeep.  Don\'t forget about the Kenwood HTB-503 which has dd/dts, outputs 100wpc & includes a 5.1 speaker set with a 100w powered sub.  $405.95 here.  Buy.com usually has it for $450 w/ free s/h but they\'ve been out of stock for some time now.

Buying tips:
1) Check out pricescan.com & pricewatch.com when buying on the internet.
2) Look for a low THD percentage.  In your pricerange go for .8% or lower. (ack!) :)
3) Don\'t buy Sony.
