Unfortunately, Xdome\'s info is wrong, I\'m not sure where they got their info from, but it couldn\'t have been from the official XBox site.

I suspect they used the figure of 4.8G/sec and made the same assumptions I described earlier.

Every consol has its advantage in its target market.


Sega caters mostly to the hardcore gamers, you have to respect Sega for this.

Sony caters to the casual or "weekend" gamers and to the hardcore fans to an extent with the RPG\'s and such.

Nintendo itself caters to the younger audience but the 2nd and 3rd parties will release a lot more serious games for the hardcore crowd.

Microsoft will cater to the hardcore audience because we see the strength that MS can bring to the game industry, it will also be the system for graphic whores and casual gamers due to the Sony-level of hype its getting

Well, I\'m no programmer, but isn\'t the PS2\'s 1.5Ghz graphics buss and 3Ghz main buss freakin\' huge?

You are forgeting to mention that most of those titles that are exclusive as of now, will more than likely be on pretty much every system by the time this console war ends.  The Final Fantasies will at least be on XBox at the worst.  Square would be pretty stupid if they didn\'t port any of their FF\'s to at least one system.  Let\'s see how many of those games for PS2 are actually first or second party.  Hmm we have GT3, which makes 1.  Naughty Dog is a second party (Arent\' they????) so that maeks those ND secret titles exclusive.  I\'ll say that there are 3 of them.  So, out of that list there are 4 first or second party games, (3 of which you hardly know anything about) that are definitely exclusive.  The rest of those on the PS2 list have a chance to be ported.


Oh yeah and about that Sega thing.  How many more AAA games does Sega have to make until people support them again.  I mean they\'ve been working their asses off, yet no one buys their stuff.  That is pretty screwed up.

So,if you look at Great Games...you can choose indifferently among PS2,DC,GC and X-Box!
And if you look at the console which will produce more Games...well...PS2 in the first place and X-Box second...

Just because they produce the most games, doesn\'t mean that it will be strong in the competition.  I can\'t even begin to count all of the games on the PSX that were complete and udder crap.  The same thing will end up happening to both consoles, because the majority of the developers are pretty crappy.  The PS2 may have 300 developers, but probably only about 1/6 to 1/8 are actually decent.  

2) If you aren\'t a "True Videogames-Lover",and you\'re looking at a "homely-Entertainment-System...well,your going to opt first for PS2 and Indrema,and then X-Box!
So ElAsesino...don\'t you think that PS2,Indrema L600 and X-Box have more chances to Win against the GC if you look at a console like a Homely-Entertainment-System?

  First of all, only hardcore gamers will even think about Indrema.  The second thing is, in about 1-2 years the DVD player will be a common household applianc much like the VCR.  So, towards the middle point and later in the PS2\'s and XBox\'s life the DVD function won\'t be a big deal.  When PS3 rolls around, the DVD function in it (supposing that it has it) will probably be used as much as the CD player function in today\'s consoles are used.  You are right though.  For the first couple of years people will look for the PS2 and XBox as far as a home entertainment system.

3) If you\'ll see millions of expert and talented gamers to choose PS2 for its wonderful games...there\'s nothing compared to the dozens of millions who will buy PS2 because of it is in fashion![/B]

  What wonderful games are you talking about?  I only see about 10 or so possible good games coming in the future, which includes Madden, SSX, and Timesplitters.  I guarantee you that as fast as Sony built the hype, it will go even quicker.  Heck, you don\'t see all this PS2 hype anymore (at least I haven\'t seen it).  I haven\'t seen a person anywhere around me talk about how the PS2 is the ultimate gaming machine and all that kind of stuff.

  I\'d like to say this.  Pretty much anyone at this forum knows that most of those 300 developers for PS2 are crappy. I mean why do you think games like Superman 64 and Carmageddon 64, have such a bad reputation?  Compared to the games that are on the N64, they are pieces of trash that don\'t deserve to be made.  There are a lot of games on PSX that were like this, but they never got any publicity for them because it wasn\'t seen as a big deal.  An excuse for a game wasn\'t a big deal on PSX because there were many games that were just like it, but since there were hardly any games that were pieces of trash on N64, those games were highly publicized.  There is no reason for me to believe that the same thing won\'t happen on the PS2.

From a purely technical standpoint there are few advantages teh Ps2 has over other consoles. With the way the vector units are set up there is a great amount of customization, you can pretty much do things the way you want. The problem with this is that most taks in 3d rendering are increadibly repetative, and there is realy no point in being able to control how you do the boring repetative calculations i your going to do it the same way anyway. Thats basicly the advantage the PS2 has over the Gamecube and XBox, which have greater power and are more simplisic to program.

Ps2\'s advantage is the vector units, it plays dvd\'s it plays music it\'s more powerful than dc i think.

I agree that the XBox and GC will be superior graphically, however they don\'t target the same gamers. Games on the PS2 are far more likely to appear on the XBox (which targets the adult gamer) than the GC (which targets the younger gamer).

I have no doubt that the GC will be successful, however I doubt it has the same appeal to old PSX/PS2 gamers. IMO, if Sony gamers are to \'jump ship\', they are far more likely to jump to the XBox than the GC. We\'ll see.

  Do you have some sort of problem with changing my words around?  I said, the battle [main battle] will be between GameCube and XBox.  Did I say PS2 wouldn\'t be in the competition? no.  I already explained to you why.  PS2 won\'t have all the exclusive third party games anymore.  With a weak 1st party and 2nd party, they won\'t be able to keep up with GameCube and XBox.  If you would have read my reply to you more closely, then I am confident that you would have realized what I was talking about.

  You are right.  We\'ll have to see.  Although, I think Nintendo will be a lot more diverse this time around.  I think Capcom must think the same way I do, if they are willing to release a Mature game (Resident Evil 0) on GC for a company that is currently known for making kiddy games.  Capcom must know something otherwise they wouldn\'t take this big of a risk.  My question is, "What is wrong with Capcom?".  I mean we all know that GC will be for the "younger gamer", so why would they put out a popular mature game when no one will buy it?  That is pretty weird.  Wait a second, I have this weird idea that popped in my head all of a sudden.  Maybe GC will be similar to the PSX.  You know how the PSX had very little fans at the beginning, but it grew once people realized how good it was.  Well, GameCube could start out with about a handful of AAA mature games.  People will eat them up, and other developers could see this (developers who specialize in the mature field), and actually bring their games to GameCube.
