Square and Microsoft?
« on: January 07, 2001, 09:33:30 AM »
Will Microsoft get Square? J. Allard is giving lots of subtle and subliminable (hehe) Messages! But I think not because Square usually becomes someones ***** for 2 generations. NES and the SNES, and then PSX and PS2. They are already making PS2 games. So if there is support for the Xbox, thats OK. There main focus will be the Ps2. But what about Microsoft\'s Strategery

Thats not known yet buddy. The final Fantasy creator and Square CEO contradicted that a while ago. It\'s rather old news.

I think a bigger question would be

will gamecube have any turn based rpgs like super nintendo?

what system will get lunar 3?

why do i prefer action rpgs or rpgs were you see the bad guy on screen. Not getting magically sucked into battle every few steps.

to there are ways to give the illusion of AA,without having to take cuts in performance, and some developers are are taking advantage of themhowever ,until SOny comes up with a specific and easy ways to implement true AA that dosent take major hits on performance, you probably wont be seeing a huge number of games take advantage of it.

It is pretty much assumed that Lunar 3 will be on DC, then maybe be ported to other systems later. GameArts loves Sega and has almost always put their RPG\'s on a Sega system before trying them on another. Can\'t wait! They had hinted at the fact they were making it, but never was there an official announcement! Got my fingers crossed!

I thought it was pretty much understood that Square would be developing for the X-box and possibly the GameCube

Square on the Xbox, lots of hints, but no word.

All the Xbox fanboys expected a Square announcment yestarday. They didn\'t. So, as of right now, and for a while now, they are still up in air weither they will develop for the Xbox or the GameCube.
Opinions are not important.

LOL, you must be joking. Square wouldn\'t sell themselves. It\'s not gonna ever happen, so just forget it already. :)

This coming generation, I\'d expect we see Square going semi-multi-console. What\'s that you say? Well I\'d expect we may see a few Square games released for XBox and maybe even Nintendo, but Sony will get the lion\'s share of Square games on the PS2.  Lucky them.

It would make sense for Square to support it. They already port the FF games over to the PC. They can port them to the XBox just as easily. They are a third party developer, and they would make more money.

I wasn\'t expecting an announcement at the CES even though.

Id figure that Square would turn to Nintendo rather then microsoft.

Either Sony or Nintendo would guarrentee the FF Series to sell over 2 million copies in Japan.

But I dont know how the Japanese look at X-Box as of now ??
I met him 15 years ago, I was told there was nothing left, no reason, no concious, no understanding and even the most rudamentory sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong, I met this 6 year old child with this blang pale emotionless face and, the blackest eyes, the devils eyes, I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realised what was living behind that boys eyes was purly and simply evil.

I think Living In Clip and Crippler make some very valid points. If Square were to make games exclusively for the X-Box then it wouldn\'t ensure the several millions of copies they\'d sell in Japan. However, since Square were able to port games to the PC, it would make sense for them to port their games to the X-Box so they can make more cash. I think we\'ll see Squaresoft on the X-Box, but I think many of Squares major franchises will be on the PS2 first (which already has a strong and dependable userbase in Japan).

Of course, the difficulty and differences between programming for the PS2 and programming for the supposedly programmer-friendly X-Box may complicate things.

ever since square was making games for nes, it pleaded nintendo not to use cartridges, and they declined many requests. That left a scar on square about how stubborn nintendo is, so  that is why FFI, II and III will be on wonderswan color instead of GB Advance and also, Nintendo just has this thing for not using the most popular storage device (now they\'re using 8cm DVD). I think square will leave nintendo out in the cold for this one
