That\'s a great question!
I just loaded up GT2 and watched the intro movie and while they definitely look similar, there are some differences. I think the GT3 gameplay looks better than the GT2 intro. This is for a couple of reasons, the first being that the lighting effects are much more subtle and realistic on GT3 than the GT2 intro. You\'ll notice that in GT2 the light source always seems to be a little higher and just to the left of the camera. That\'s not the case with GT3, it\'s always coming from the same place regardless of where the camera moves to within the shot. The second being that you can tell there\'s more screen information on the GT3 demo making everything look much more smooth. Regardless of how good the GT2 intro looks, there are still some visible jagged edges here and there. I don\'t recall seeing those in the demo... definitely not in the replays anyway.
GT3 looks most like the GT2 intro in a couple spots, the first being where the screen goes to color and there\'s a "swoosh" sound after they flash the track names at you. There are a lot of shots in the intro with the same color tones and the shots of Laguna Seca, Trial Mountain and Seattle are very close to what GT3 gameplay looks like.
And yes, Darth Joyda, I was very excited while playing. I think there was a puddle of drool on the floor when I left. It just seemed so much more real than the previous GT games. The cars looked and felt like they had real mass.
BTW: Those things they say about the NPC car\'s AI when you pass them is true. I bumped into a couple of them trying to sneak underneath their lines in some of the turns and they came back and beat the **** out of me. They\'d rub my back end so I couldn\'t track around turns trying to get away from them, then schooled me in the next bend... those bastards! I felt like I was racing against other people. It was awesome.
