The February 2001 issue of Playboy picks Oni as the "game of the month." Here is the blurb:

Japanese cartoons are no Cinderella. These anime are filled with gunfights, shapely women and all the other trappings of a good Schwarzenegger shoot-\'em-up. Rockstar Games hopes that energy translates in ONI, its videogame version of these cartoons, created for PlayStation 2, PC and Mac. Rockstar even brought in anime artists to illustrate the game\'s story of Konoko, a policewoman who is charged with bringing down a crime ring. Using new animation technology, Konoko can kick ass with a combonation of martial arts and gunplay, allowing players to disarm opponents and turn their own guns against them. Let\'s see Snow White top those moves.


There\'s also an ad in that issue for the game. I know little about the game, but the ign.com preview was favorable and since bouncer sucks, is this game worth a look?

it doesnt say Rockstar anywhere. But it says Take Two. :)

So this is basically nullified since they were fabricating this news, since publishers usually don;t go round changing the way the game looks!!

I would take this, like all mass media reviews, with a grain or two of salt, and wait for the real game reviewers take it for a test drive, or better yet, rent the sucker on release!

The game developer is listed as Rockstar Games on amazon.com

It\'s on my wishlist if anyone cares :D

Oni was developed by Bungie, but when Bungie got bought it went to Rockstar.  Maybe Take-Two is the publisher.

Perhaps its a case of Rockstar handling the conversion to PS2 while Bungie are sticking to the PC and Mac formats, makes sense to me - btw I think the PC/Mac versions went gold a week or so back.

I replaced the PC cover with the PS2 cover. The PS2 game has a little "R" and a "star" in the corner.  Does that stand for Rockstar???

Anyway, was trying to read the back cover, but couldn\'t make anything out... but it looks like it\'s TWO DISCS!  I didn\'t know that... all you guys probably did, but that\'s news to me.  I haven\'t seen a 2-disc PS2 game yet.

DailyRadar.com has a little preview of it today on their site and it looks like they have the launch date down for the 29 of this month.  Most likely that will be pushed back at least once.
