Virtua Fighter 4 For PS2 !
« on: February 01, 2001, 03:05:35 AM »
So what did everyone think of the announcement from Sega. Being built from the ground up for the PS2.
Namco now have competition from the hands of sega.

Soul Calibra 2, Tekken 4, and now Virtu Fighter 4 all on playstation 2 :) Hopefully they will be at E3..

First reaction of this - GoD Damn !!!!!!
I met him 15 years ago, I was told there was nothing left, no reason, no concious, no understanding and even the most rudamentory sense of life or death, good or evil, right or wrong, I met this 6 year old child with this blang pale emotionless face and, the blackest eyes, the devils eyes, I spent 8 years trying to reach him, and then another 7 trying to keep him locked up because I realised what was living behind that boys eyes was purly and simply evil.

Mixed feelings...

  • It will be very interesting to follow VF4\'s progress and actually listen to/read Sega hyping/marketing VF4 for PS2.
  • I\'m looking forward to seeing what Sega can do on PS2.
  • I\'m still in a mild state of shock that Sega will be developing for Sony (as well as other platforms).  So many years as a first-party developer to their own hardware.  There\'s a large number of Sega fans who\'ll be hurting at the moment and I feel for them.
  • Looking forward to seeing how other AAA developers will react to Sega encroaching on their patch.
  • I\'m hopeful that Sega will be able to get back in the black as a third party developer.

I read somewhere that VF4 was never planned for the
DC anymore. So Sega must have been looking some time
ago for it to be on another platform. ( so I conlude they
knew the DC wouldn\'t be aroundd for much longer.)
It\'s really great they\'re gonna build it up from scratch
just for PS2. I wonder what Yu Suzuki and AM2 can do
with the PS2 hardware.

Now, you will all fortunately see what us Sega fans have been raging about all these years! VF4 v. T4? hahahaa! We will see!

BTW, VF4 of course would not have been made for DC. It is a NAOMI2 game, easily twice as powerful with much more Memory! It would look terrible in comparison. At least with PS2, and hopefully (for textures sake) X-Box, it will at least greatly resemble it\'s arcade brother.

This is a crazy time for videogames. Once again, Sega decides to push the envelope and rock the boat and to tell you the truth I love it! Muhahahahahahha! Besides, things IMO were getting a little dull in the videogame industry(oh wait...it\'s not March yet!). I\'m actually pretty excited about how Sega will fair on the PS2 hardware. Very excited indeed.

And by the way, what\'s up with EA "warning" Sega that as a third-party publisher they will run into problems. What a joke!! What they really wanted to say was,"Sega, please don\'t come in and put up your NFL2K series against our Madden series. Now that your titles are on Ps2, gamers don\'t have to think twice about getting a dreamcast to play your games! Oh darn. Oh and please don\'t put up NBA2k vs our Live series. Ya know were really on a roll right now, were making a lot of profits and well...ya know what? Money is a good thing to have. Please don\'t ruin it for us."

Don\'t get me wrong, I love EA because I\'ve played Live to death and I\'m currently addicted to SSX, but this whole warning business is such a crock a S**T that I have to laugh. Do you really think that Sega gives a FAT LADY\'S A** what the F*** they think after they turned their back on them? C\'mon! If I were Mr. Peter Moore, I would phone the EA reps and leave a message saying," Hey guys, don\'t worry about us because Sega\'s entry into the third-party market is gonna be,\'SWEETER THAN CANDY\'. Have a nice day."(click)

By the way it\'s good to see the forums up again. :smokin:

altho the announcement is really, really good, i can\'t really see virtua fighter on anything BUT a sega console. it\'s weird, it\'s definitely weird.

and have any of you heard that there may be 2 versions of virtua fighter 4 going around ? supposedly there\'s still a virtua fighter x (even tho it\'s been announced that the official name is now VF4). vfx is supposedly arcade only, but might make it\'s way to the xbox. after hearing about that, this whole virtua fighter thing is crazy confusing.

1. Sega make good games and now I can enjoy them all

2. All those Sega FanBoys will shut up now :)

Sega Fanboys will shut up now? ha! you make me laugh! Once everyone has seen the err in their evil ways of denying Sega games and systems, we come out of the woodwork to catch you on your idiocy! We only get louder now that Sega\'s games will directly compete (and arguably will make fools of) other third party games ont he same system. Alas, it will be fun times!

In case anyone still doesn\'t know,Sega will be developing for ALL the systems. They already annouced games that are currently coming to the DC(they will still support it for another year most likely),PS2 and GBA.Ps2 is getting 5 or 6 games(VF4,and four other uncomfirmed games), and GBA is officialygetting Sonic,Chu Chu Rocket and Puyo Puyo.No games have been annouced yet for NGC or X-Box but Sega said they would support both of those systems.

PS-VF4 is gonna rock!:)

Blah. I think it totally sucks. But, at least it gives me a reason to play my PS2. Because, I haven\'t played it in along time. Either way, its a win situation for everyone. Sega fans (i.e, me and altered) can still play great Sega games and PS2 fans can play those (and XBox fans).

I just hate the idea of the DC being gone soon. \'Tis was a good console.

my question is how good will sega\'s games look on the psx2. Don\'t get me wrong i\'m sure sega will work hard on them, but how will they compare to a xbox version. Now yes xbox is more powerful but i ment developer ease, and the psx2 has the aa issues in where the hardware takes hit. They will have to work like a ***** on the programming, and lose foucs on creativity.(to a dgree)

I am disspointed that sega would even waste there time on the PSX2 and wish they would foucu on XBOX exclusivly, that way the hardrive would be implement int he game. This would really make sega\'s games shine. Think about shenmue on the XBOX using the HARDRIVE, now that would ROCK!!!!!
HArd drive is a major facter in game play it takes it to a new level. anyways i\'m rabbling on here, but i understand that going multi platform is the only way for sega to get out of the rut and make some big dollars
