- nah...actually the genesis,  while it had some pretty cool games,  it failed to live up to the SNES because of its lack of colors...sega only had 64 colors while the snes had a whopping 16k...plus the snes had mode 7 and the audio chip was a lot better...compare the street fighter games and MK2...plus check out games like FF3 and castlevania and super ghouls n ghosts which looked a lot better than the genesis\'s original ghouls n ghosts....

Both kicked ass, in my opinion. However, I enjoyed my Genesis alot more. You had all the Sonic games, Shinobi series, CastleVania: Bloodlines  - which was alot better then CastleVania IV (an excellent game on its own terms). Then there was the more mature games that the Genesis was home to. The Genesis was just more "hip" in my opinion.

The SNES had 256 colors; no where near 16K.
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Systems back then couldn\'t support 16k colors. The system couldn\'t handle that many.

Technically speaking, the SNES was superior to the Genny. Now in games, it\'s all about preferece. Isn\'t that always the case?

I had much more fun with my SNES though. Those Mode 7 effects never seemed to get old (even though they did eventually). I\'ll never forget the first time I saw Bowser scale towards the screen. Or the first time I heard the beautiful music of Actraiser. The Genny sound system was a POS. (cept for very few games which had great music courtesy of Yuzo Koshiro) ...

I wish I still had both consoles with all the games I had owned. :(

Wow!  After all this time Genesis is still alive.  The Super NES was the only one I got.  It seems that I think I get a cool system and someone else buys a better one.  That\'s happened to me twice.

who cares about the technical aspects of the systems?

IMO, Genny spanked SNES, but that is MO!

Also, to everyone that hasn\'t bee alive in the past year of reading this board, Genesis could do scaling and rotation (and Mode 7 with the SVP chip)

ajoh - I care about 0 how many enemies I make, as long as I get my point across. We all know Bozco is a little fanboy, I didn\'t even have to tell him, but he is just too damn ignorant.

I never liked the Genesis too much. Aside from the Sonic games, there really wasn\'t that much else IMO(then I again, I didn\'t play Genesis much back then). I prefered Square\'s RPGs and the SNES\'s platformers.

I bought a brand spanking NEW SNES at Walmart about 3 weeks ago!  I couldn\'t believe it, I scratched my eyes and there they were behind the glass!  I went to Blockbusters and pawnshops and picked up a whole pile of games like Contra: The Alien Wars, Blackthorne, Super Ghouls\'n Ghosts, Demon\'s Crest, Axeley, Yoshi\'s Island, Plok, Zombie Ate my Neighbours, etc.
