Can\'t swear your post was desiring advice...you might just as easily be wishing only to vent,...but here goes...
Just a week ago I walked into my local Toys R Us at around 7:30pm on a Thursday evening...and they had roughly 15 PS2s locked down in their showroom cage available for sale. Now I already own one (since Oct 26th), but I purchased one for a buddy that\'s been shopping around like you.
The point? They really are out there. They arrive nearly daily at one retailer or another. Most retailers receive one to two major shipments (of all sorts of merchandise) weekly...and its likely that PS2s are on those shipments as well...although sometimes there may be many...sometimes few...sometimes none at all.
So how does that info benefit you? Well, speak very frankly with the management. Offer them your name and phone number. Speak professionally about your desire to purchase a PS2 from them...all they need do is hold one and notify you and you will be there asap. Remind them that you will be adding $300 to his/her volume and that you like to purchase other items from his/her store (and can\'t wait to buy all your PS2 games from him/her!!!). Soundly reason with the manager...allow them to appreciate that you desire to do business with them.
Also, if you are "too young", well solicite one or another of your parents to do the same then. The point is, be proactive in your intent. Don\'t just run into a store, hollar "are there any PS2s?" and then breeze back out again when you find out there are not. Take the time to speak with the manager. Make them want your business, and they will give it to you...that\'s almost a guaranteed promise.
