Namco\'s PS2 GunCon!
« on: February 13, 2001, 12:21:42 PM »
Representatives from Namco have confirmed that a PS2 version of their famous light-gun peripheral, the GunCon, will indeed be released in Japan later this year. It is said that the GunCon will be connected to the PS2 through the USB port. Namco hopes to release a compatible PS2 shooting game at the same time as the GunCon, as original PSone shooting games will not be compatible with the PS2 version of the gun. No other features or specifications of the GunCon have been announced, nor has the price.

I know that Namco is developing Vampire Night for the PS2-compatible System 246 arcade board.

Vampire Night seems to be your common shooting game, complete with the requirement that you shoot off the screen in order to reload. If you shoot villagers, you\'ll loose energy, and it also seems that villagers who are shot will turn into zombies who attempt to strike you down.

Expect Namco to debut this game at the upcoming February AOU arcade show where it will face some competition from Sega\'s on House of the Dead III. A Japanese arcade release is expected in March!

However a sequel to Time Crisis should be in development too:)

Oh screw that! The Time Crisis method of hiding and reloading was way better. Or maybe you can still hide, but also load the gun by shooting off-screen? Could be nice...

Bah, I\'ll have to have 2 light guns then... grrr...

I bet that\'s the old one. Exatly like mine. I think we\'re gonna see more buttons on the new model (just a hunch). And if the two guns are almost identical you could have trouble if you start a game with the wrong pistol plugged in, arg :)
