What? I didn\'t know as I don\'t watch Daytona so often... what happened?

a big crash?

Tell me more...

edit: sorry, I may be sick but I\'m interested in accidents like these... death happens. not really interested, but eager to know what truly happened. So don\'t think i\'m a sick b@st@rd now...

*silent moment for another death here on earth*

Yes, I know. But as this popped up and I saw CPlesane \'crying\' I thought to lend a thought for the soul of Dale Ernheart.

Just a kind thought that\'s all :)

*so forth I\'ll be silent for the rest of my life*

He died yesterday on the last lap with literally seconds away from the finish line. He died on impact from hitting the wall at over 100 mph and suffered massive head and chest trauma.

The racers who came in first and second in the race were both owned (there cars that is) by him, and his son got second.

i just happened to tape the race.  there was a much larger crash which involved 17 cars maybe 18, but no one was injured.  from the look of ernheart\'s crash it didn\'t look like much of anything, but they said he hit the wall @ over 180 mph.

180+ mph head on.  That\'s enough to kill any person no matter what.  They do crash tests for regular cars at 45-70mph max, 180 is just crazy.  He was dead wen he came down after the crash and that\'s really sad.

As for the 19 car pile up, the only injury suffered was to Tony Stewart, who happens to be my favorite Nascar driver, which suffered a bruised shoulder and a minor concussion after rolling 3 times before finally landing.

Isn\'t that the racing guy from nascar who\'s always on TNN

dang that sounds like a bad crash

180 into a wall is like hitting another car going 180 towards you

it is such a tradgic way to go

and i was not being serious about being silent for the rest if your joyda i was j/k

but seems like there was some pretty bad crahes - thank goodness no one was seriously injured in that pile up

180 Mph to the wall?

Why? Engine problem? Just bad driving? Bad luck? Hit by another car?

I mean... you just can\'t HIT the wall with no reasons. That\'s quite ironic. Almost winning and then... I think the driver didn\'t expect that to happen... nor the ppl whom watched the race.

another car clipped him and sent him spinning...it was a very very very small tap but at 180mph its a whole other story.

It happened to the dirtiest driver out there on the track.  I don\'t really care much about nascar, but Ernhardt won quite a few races on the last lap do to bumping.  You don\'t get the name intimidator from nothing.  It\'s just ironic that someone Sterling nudged him that got him loose into the wall.  The same thing that Dale does all the time.  Ooooooppsss.....  did all the time....

What happened to him was a very bad thing. But it happens it\'s just part of life. A lot of people die everyday.

Nascar racing may end up safer now. So good can come from bad.
