PS2 here, PS2 there, PS2 everywhere!
« on: February 21, 2001, 03:19:34 PM »
Don\'t have a PS2 yet? No fear, in Japan today Sony held a press conference telling a little bit about their future plans both in Japan and worldwide. During the conference, Sony said that they plan to have shipped 20 million PS2s worldwide by the end of the fiscal 2001 year (which ends March 2002). In addition, Sony said that they plan to ship another 10 million PS one consoles by the end of the fiscal year. Sony says that this puts an end to the manufacturing problems and soon you\'ll be able to find a PS2 in virtually every retail shop that sells videogame hardware.

Good news? Oh yeah! This goes back to the original plans of Sony to have March (of this year) to be the PS2 "relaunch" where they would get consoles in stock at retailers and release some major support titles, like Zone of the Enders (with MGS2 demo), Shadow of Destiny, Unison, Onimusha, The Bouncer, 4X4 Evolution, Winback, Silpheed: The Lost Planet, a ton of sports titles, MDK2 Armageddon, and a whole lot more! It\'s definitely a good time to be a PS2 owner folks!

Now what they should do in March is a price drop..  Even if its by $50 bucks that would stir up a lot of business.  Even if it was only for a short period of time...

I already have one, but I know a lot of people who would buy one if the price was a little lower..

that just my thought on this..  :D

Sorry but I don\'t see that happening.  I just don\'t see why they would consider a price cut until it\'s absolutely necessary to compete.  Even if they can now manufacture the things at a reduced cost, remaining at this price-point gives them a chance to recoup some of their earlier losses.  I\'d be willing to bet we won\'t see a price reduction til Sony has no choice...

To err is human, to belabor the point to no end and deny any semblance of common sense or logic is the demesnes of the fanboy!
