I will add my opinion now so brace yourselves:D

Ok 2D fighters like Street fighter win hands down but between the 3d fighters I would say that although I prefer Tekken I think that DOA2 and VF are more in depth fighters which offer you more freedom around the arena\'s, you can also use the surroundings to do moves offering a new angle of strategy. Namco\'s fighters never really took 3d fighters past the initial sidestep, plain arena. Soul Calibur is fun and I own it but It\'s a button mashes paradise and the arena\'s are boring it\'s really just a show off game with flashy moves, soul blade was much better. Now Tekken was very good and so was no. 2 but I feel no. 3 was quite silly with the kangaroo and bear and the added characters were similiar to another fighter like soul calibur was. VF and DOA2 don\'t have a huge amount of characters because they are unique and control very different. TTT was the same as Tekken 3 but the tag option added more fun with friends and it never played a big part moves wise were as DOA2 the tag option adds new moves to the fight and more strategy. I think DOA2 wins in the indepth department and TTT wins in the fun department because of the more interesting characters and easier to pick up controlls. Tekken 3 and TTT do offer depth but beyond the throws and combos there isn\'t much, there\'s no using surrounding areas(VF3) or tag options(DOA2).

Don\'t give me that if it aint broke don\'t fix it crap because VF2 was great but SEGA took VF3 to a new level and they seem to be doing it with part 4 as well. I don\'t hear any VF fans complaining about the changes either. Tekken 4 needs to offer something new because although the Tekken games are my favourite 3D fighters I am thinking of dropping it in favour of VF4 and DOA2. I think go back to Tekken2 but add in interactive backgrounds to add that new angle of strategy and moves. Feel free to critise my opinion because I am not trying to convert anyone just speaking what I think.:)

"now, in the PS2, there is a war, a fighting games war: SC2, Tekken 4, DOA2, Bloody2, VF4... never one console had had many games like these... who will win?"

DC isn\'t even dead and already you\'ve forgotten it?

M v C 1 & 2? SF Alpha 3? SF III 1 & 2? DOA 2? VF 3? K of F 99 & Evolution? Cap vs SNK? Rival Schools? Guilty Gear X? UFC? Soul Calibur?

The list goes on.

I\'ll take 2-D over 3-D any day.

July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Tekken 4?
SC2?
VF4?

...and you forget Dead or Alive 3! :)

I read that Top development Team Ninja is splitting into two divisions, both overseen by Dead or Alive mastermind Tomonobu Itagaki. One team will be working on Ninja Gaiden, still some distance away -- the other is working on Dead or Alive 3, which is set to make a splash at the big game shows in the first half of this year! :D

SG, but one need to keep in mind the fact that a LOT more people were exposed to Tekken Because of the PSX\'s overwhelming domintation of the 32 bit era While VF was kept in the shadow by the saturn\'s underwhelming performance.

I am sure that a lot more people would be more open to the VF series if only they had experienced it.

I\'m not saying that tekken players are fanboys, but a lot of them became tekken players because of a lack of choice: They had a playstation and not a saturn so they went for the biggest and best fighting game the platform had. that just happened to be tekken.

Ashford = completely correct. you want fighting games, I guess you werent looking inthe right place :)

DreamStationBoxCube - I am kinda complaining that they are taking my Evade button away and going back to VF2 and VF. But oh well, I also hoep they do the learning AI like they did in VF2! That was awesome! Never a dull moment playing hard with learning AI on, I havent seen anything as smart as that since, well, that.I guess they are doing eroding surfaces, thats awesome sounding!

If it aint broke dont fix it.Do you know why I say that?Because TEKKEN1\'s gameplay won over VF1 Tekken2 Won VF2.Then Sega wanted to revolutionise their fighting game by adding 3D backrounds ans sidestepping. Then Tekken3 comes.Introducing a better variety of characters more moves faster and ofcourse a very nice sidestepping(If it aint broke dont fix it) and it prooved a winner.
Again Sega wants to take back the crown of the best fighting game and so whatever it was broken they got rid of it.No sidestepping my friend and the arenas are like Soul Calibur\'s.They ve changed a lot of things.
It was broken and they fixed it using elements form other fighting games\' if it aint broke dont fix it.

Small sammury:VF needed fixing thats why it had changed a lot

Oh and TTT not only has the Tag mode but they have added new moves, twicked a bit the tactics, made some small changes to the characters so for example Bruce wouldnt feel the same as Bryan etc.Hey Baek is almost completely different from Howarang.

And dont forget Pai and Lau are similar and Jacky and Sarah are similar.

Unicron, please, dont.

Your ack of playing any of the games in depth (obviously) shows your ignorance. Jacky and Sarah are not close at all in their fighting styles. In fact, Pai and Lau are completely different. I am not just talking about moves either, which are totally different, I am talking about how you should play with the characters.

I could argue that Tekkens limited move list and combos severely limit the playability, but of course, that is my opinion (and it is) just as your opinion is. Let\'s just not judge it without playing it. Who knows, we may see Tekken copy VF (as it always does) and take away the side-stepping buttons! hahaha

BTW, adding hidden and extra modes does not make the game any better! It just shows the hollowness of the gameplay. Substance over style.

WOW, For once I agree with AlteredBeast.

IMO, VF could have used some hidden and extra modes too. The developers realised that it is a fighting game and that it could get stagnant after a while so they need something to give the game replay value. BTW, Just because VF3 had a s#itload of moves doesn\'t make it an incredibly deep fighter.

Gotcha. You see Tekken has many similar characters but different tactics too.But lets take some similar characters and compare them.
Law-Lee(Those 2 are almost different)
Kuma-Jack
Baek-Howarang
Heihachi-Jin
etc.
Try to use them those characters and you will see each one has different tactics from its \'clone\'.
Lets also take the completely defferent kinds of styles.
Michelle,Jin,Xiaoyou,Jack,Law,Howarang,Bryan,Nina,Paul,Yoshimitsu,Eddy,Lei.

Hmm 12 different styles. How much players did VF3 have?

Try count\'em in Parctice mode. They are many. And some of them arent even included in the command option.

Ehm.If it copied VF we would have seen RING OUTS and interactive backrounds too.But they havent added those. If Tekken3 had interactive backrounds VF fans would start saying "OOOOOHH take a look at Tekken that fanboy\'s fighter. It even copied VF3\'s idea".But it hasnt. Now people prefer DOA2 and VF3 because Tekken has non interactive backrounds?Look below.

Hmm.VF4 doesnt have this feature now.

There are also some VF fans that havent playied tekken enough either(I dont know if you are one of those).Proof above.Tekken3\'s characters were less similar than Tekken2 and Kangaroo was only in tekken2 not tekken3.The dude above says "no. 3 was quite silly with the kangaroo and bear[/b] and the added characters were similiar". Huh?

Last 2 quotes are by Dreamstationxbox or something

hmm, no. VF3 has been around since Tekken 2. VF3 has tactics based on if someone is in a higher level on the snow, sand, or on a different level entirely. You have to use them to your advantage and change they way you play based on that.

BTW, VF only shows about 20 moves for each character in the manual. But I recently printed out a move list for Kage and I believe it was 17 or 26 pages long. One or the other was Lion. 26 pages moves and combos, just moves and combos.

Have you playied fighters megamix?Damn. This game shows each characters every single move.A very very very big list.
But the same counts for Tekken in terms of variety in moves.
By the way some of the moves listed in fighters megamix are listed again in compo moves.Propably thats why the list is so big.

Both fighters have a ton of moves nevertheless

I wasnt comparing VF move list with Tekken\'s here.I was just proving that Tekken has lots of moves.
