Author Topic: KENGO Master of Bushido, makes my system run as hard a blockbuster security sticker..  (Read 947 times)

I bought this title yesterday, since which, it has not been smooth sailing for my PS2 . . .

When I first loaded the title, the system began to shake so ferveratively, I actualy looked to see if I had mistakenly left my dualshock next to the PS2. Sadly, the situation was not so easily remedied.

After several tries to load the game without problem, while trying my other five games, randomly without trouble, durring the ordeal, I eventualy got the game to work, more or less, smoothly.

I played the game for about an hour and a half, noticing that the system was running considerably harder than usual . . . Then, bam . . . the shaking and rattlin\' started all over again. I tried a few more times to reload the game, yet it would run smoothly no longer. Still however, my other five titles ran fine, as they always have.

Suffice it to say, I\'m returning this game. The PS2 was way to exspensive, not to mention difficult to find, to risk damaging for a title of this caliber.

I\'m curious to see if anyone else has had this problem? Perhaps this is just a bad disk or shipment. Thanks

Lol, sorry, I don\'t have much to say. But I wanted to post here because of my name! :D

It was actually you who inspired me to pick the Samwise name. :)

But a little on topic: I\'ve heard complaints about those BB stickers before, because they make the PS2 vibrate. So you\'re definatly not alone.
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAPETIME!
(thanks Chizzy!)

I\'m honored. I never knew it was I that inspired your handle, Samwise. I just always assumed we both we\'re Tolkien fans, who more or less, showed up round the same time. :)

As for this game problem, I\'m only comparing it to the whole Blockbuster fiasco of October . . .This copy of KENGO is brand new, I just bought it from a local Wal-Mart yesterday.

(sigh) I hope they don\'t give me hard time about this, their return policy is rather strict in regard to software.

Ok basically this problem shouldn\'t happen! I mean its true that stickers on CDs won\'t help but im sure these same discs play in PC CD-ROMs.

I\'ve heard that stickers can cause this problem and also warped discs. Changing the disc is normally the solution.

I still personnally feel different PS2s handle discs differently and that some people simply have poorer quality PS2s that handle discs with stickers on in a bad way. I personally haven\'t tried a game from blockbuster yet to test my PS2.

I know this is a little of topic but has anyone here found it difficult to rent games at blockbuster, due to limited supplies.  Every time I go..all the games are rented out, even the bad ones...maybe its just my area *sigh*

Sorry to hear that Frodo, I know more PS2 troubles more than anyone.  Unfortunately PS2\'s are put together like sh!t.  It could be the game, the disc in particular, or even your console.  Wal-Mart will let you exchange for the same title, so you could try a different disc of the same game.

Hmm . . .

So basically, no one here has any real clue as to why this is happening, beyond the late friday production theory, given by MM? :)

Well, I was all set to return the game, when I decided to run it once more, first time today, just so I could get a fresh perspective on how bad it was messing with the console.

Basically, it ran fine today. I mean, it\'s still making the system run a bit harder than my other titles, but its not shake rattling and rolling the dern thing, like it did last night.
Now, it\'s basically running a tiny bit harder than when I play TimeSpliters.
What I mean by this, is the constant vibration caused by the drive motor, while the disk is spinning, not the motions of the drive while its reading data.

So, now I\'m not sure what to do. I\'ve been playing it for a few hours, to see if it would start going screwey again, yet it seems to be running fine now. (shrugs)

I don\'t want to think its my system, as I have had zero probs with my other PS2 titles, PSone titles, and DVD\'s. In fact, this is my first complaint with the system, and since I\'ve had it since launch, I know its behavior by now.

As it stands, I\'m going to chock it up to a one time glitch . . .even though its a stretch. If the title continues to run well, I\'ll keep it. If not, then . . .I guess I\'ll exchange it for a new one and go from there.

Anyway, thanks for the help. And, should anyone have somehing to add, feel free.
