RGB Solution, Invalidate Warrenty Vs SVideo Cable.

Which one will you choose ?

Jeez, I don\'t have a PAL PS2, but the answer to that question seems pretty obvious - the benefits of the RGB over the S-Video definately aren\'t worth invalidating your warranty.

Mmmm, Still very tempted.. but not sure. this rgb fix does work, and i know that  can do the modification
with ease. still, i\'m not sure what to do. People who have done the modification say that it works fine but
does not disenable macrovision. so why the hell would sony disenable RGB playback? strange. there are rumours
around that a software update could fix the green screen problem, but who do you trust? this confession was apparently
made by someone within sony. I read this via a thread on another board. I\'ll copy & paste the post...

almost every discussion in this forum seems to be about some kind of MODchip that should enable multi-region DVD or stuff like that. However, I stumbled across a quite interesting piece of information. German site, http://www.digital-movie.de interviewed Benjamin Gurnsey from Sony. Discussion concerned disabled RGB output for PS2 DVD playback. Usual "anti-copying" stuff and so on. BUT - Gurnsey admitted that RGB output is disabled in SOFTWARE, not hardware. Even more, he stated that DVD driver update will be available when Sony settles it\'s dispute with DVD Consortium.

Only conclusion I can come to is that PS2 has it\'s DVD player in flash memory and that one could probably reprogram the flash memory using special software distributed on CD (can\'t think of any other means of distribution for official updates).

OK, how come that I have heard of no developments in new DVD software section? If PS2 really has flash that can be accessed by software then it should be relatively easy to create DVD players with "advanced" features like selectable regions or RGB output. Maybe even VCD support Original Japanese utility disk had DVD driver with RGB support that could be copied from CD to memory card, right? Seems like a perfect development base for me...

Any news in this field?
