Anyone have Counter-Strike???

I played it today at my friends house and it was awesome, iI just wanted to know if the requirments would suit my comp, since it blows. So could someone tell me the requirements.

a p II 300 64mb ram and a voodoo 3 should do it ok

dont bother if you dont have a 3dcard

Counter-Strike is a quite graphic intensive game since version 1 with the new models came out.

With a P3450 , 128 meg ram with a Geforce DDR I get 47 frames and below.

Plan to go on a shopping spree when in america in may.

GeForce 3 or maybe a GeForce Ultra since they are dropping in price, AMD thunderbird 1+gigmhz.

Then I should be able to run it sweet..

No.  A pentium 2 450 scsi w\\ a tnt 2 can only push 30FPS max at 800x600, believe me, it\'s graphically intensive for 1.0 and it\'s going to remain so with 1.1 which should be out fairly soon.  I run a P3 800 on a generic Intel 3d card (max of 8mb of ram for that) and 128mb of standard ram and i pull 40FPS.  You can tell what\'s taking most of the weight in terms of power (thank god for my P3).  If I were you, I recommend a P2 400 at the least.  FPS is the most important aspect of the game.  Not even lag is that much of a factor thanks to the HL netcode.

In case anyone was wondering, I play CS on about 4 main servers:

I go to all of them as frequently as I can.  Hell, maybe you\'ve played me, [PC]MrClean, ]uGk-r[John Carmack, [PC]Izo, [PC]AK-Raper. [PC]Ryu.  The [PC] Clan is a fake clan that me and 4 other people made up just so that way people wont ask if I can join, but I\'m pretty good friends with the admins on most of those servers listed there.

well i was talking about the recommened MINIMUM, you will get a steady 25 fps framerate. But it also depends on the quality of the mobo, Power supply and HD and ofcourse your drivers.

But does anyone know if there is going to be any updates for cs, like with new weapons and new features?

http://counter-strike.net for all the latest news on updates and such.  A few new maps are going to be added to 1.0, but who knows what will happen with the weapons side of things.  Rumor has it, there will be an option to switch between CS 1.0 models and CS 7.1 models for low end and high end PC\'s.  The 7.1 models, imo, are the best models ever for CS and WHY they even bothered to remove them in favor of the horrid 1.0 models by Valve is beyond me.  In any case, 1.1 will be the best version of CS since 7.1, which was the first CS to improve since CS 5.2.  

Back on topic, the best PC I can recommend is no less then a P2 350 with a voodoo 2 at 640x480.  That\'ll push about 25FPS I bet.  It would also help a lot if you had BB, even though lag doesn\'t affect gameplay that much, it could help with FPS.

Dunno bout the guns, but there is a new addion to dust comming out, and the revamped docks (best map imo)

looking very nice, if you want to use FSAA go for the gf3, it wont have a big preformance hit

but I use FSAA on my Geforce Pro, and it works fine

Same here with My Creative Geforce DDR.

1024x768 with 1.5x1.5 FSAA.

Dunno what to go for. The Geforce 3, or wait for ATI\'s new Radon which will be very good.

The current ge force is doing the job. I might just milk it and wait and see which is best

Ah, a discussion about Counter Strike; the most satisfying Multiplayer -experience [ after Unreal Tournament; wich just hit me somehow! ]. Call it realistic, or not, but everyone loves it!

Ah, you lucky pastarts with the latest systems; I will have to suffer with the resolution set to 800x600 and still it fights back and never runs as smooth as I could hope...

But lag is something wich doesn\'t bother me TOO much... but it still does.

lag is not a prob for cs, its netcode is very smooth. I have a cable modem so no wories for

As a matter of a fact, I plan on buying it today. But I have no 3d card. :/ A friend of mine has Counter-Strike on his comp with no 3d card and it runs fine. The graphics could be better but besides that its a smooth a silk.

I have 196mb of RAM, a 3mb\\sec cable modem, and my processor is a 500mhz AMD K-6 2 3D. Will it run ok for me???

Wow I hate my ****in computer. Its worse than all of yours. Its not even 3 years old and its the worst piece of **** ever. My dad is such a **** about gettin a new one. So when I get my job, soon, I\'ll just save up and buy my own compa nd keep it in my room and not let anyone else use it, f*ck the rest of my family.
