Ps2 fanboys can rejoice
"IGN has learned that Square has decided NOT to develop for Microsoft\'s Xbox, after all. Square had originally said that it was interested in Xbox development, and has apparently been in discussions with Microsoft, but recently we heard that Square has decided to pull away from any Xbox development, although it\'s still listed as a developer. As everybody knows, it\'s quite easy to become a listed developer, which is different than actually developing for a system. Also, Enix has yet to sign any deal with Microsoft. Is Xbox going to have a tough time in Japan? You bet."

The succsess of Xbox in Japan (maybe even in the states) IS DOUBTFULL. First Konami, then Square??!?!

Saturn sold 5 million in a little over a year without Square,Konami, or Enix. Having a couple huge developers is  not all that bad, it just gives the smaller developers a chance to shine.

What is the similarity behind the two? Sega is listed for both. It is going to be my prediction that X-Box will do VERY well in America, the place where most of us live.

you guys know how I feel about Square, and for them would add instant sales to X-Box, but would crapify the games, as every small developer is then crushed because they have no chance to shine versus huge developers. Square sucks.

I heard the Final Fantasy X will get food tie ins (Sony said they were working with Square and Konami a while back) Look for your Burger King or McDonalds or whatver cups and wrappers to be covered with FFX characters!

Thanks for the info. Why wouldn\'t Square want to develop for the Xbox??? It must be personal matters or something. I don\'t care...as long as I get my Final Fantasy X...:)

Beasty,

I think you\'re a bit jaded because Square never wanted to support SEGA. Get over it, to say Square \'sucks\' is ludicrous, not all their games are the best, but they do make great games.

Compare PSX sales to Saturn sales.. I love(d) the Saturn as much as the next guy (gotta love its 2d) but let it RIP man. Not to mention the PSX destroyed the Saturn in software sales. The small developers get crushed regardless. How well did Treasure\'s games do in Japan for the Saturn? Not very well @ all, and they are all amazing. So no, Square does not suck.

When some of the biggest 3rd party companies don\'t want to invest in Xbox, that is definitely a huge disadvantage.. Square, Konami is skeptical, and so is Namco.

Because Sony has them in check.  And, it looks like they only develop for 1 company for 2 Generations (IE: NES and SNES)

Ummmm, you think the PS2 is living up to the hype???  Half the people I know who have one extremely disagree (including me).  They are either using it mainly as a DVD player or anticipating games that aren\'t out yet.  Did Sony/the media ever mention this when the PS2 was about to hit the shelves?

Well that IGN rumor was posted off of the IGN PSX website.  So its kind of meaningless.

The problem with this industry is that its becoming a industry of console whores, which just make crap up and believe its real to make another console look bad.

This practice is done by people on each console platform and they delight when something actually does go wrong for competitors... (ahem Animal Mother ahem).

Who knows, maybe by E3 2002, a ton of developers or companies will drop PS2.  I won\'t be laughing because competition is everything, but I am sure there will be console whores just laughing away.

I know a lot of websites that are "Sony whores".  They would give blowjobs to Sony execs.   Its pretty sad....

Also before everyone believes the rumor, maybe we should just wait and see.  I mean after all if we believed everything about the PS2, we would already have PS3 in our hands.

Also another interesting note is that SQUARE is losing a ton of money and either Sony has bought them out to go to first party or they want to screw themselves up.  

So I just don\'t give credence to this rumor.

You mean Square is planning to support the GameCube a lot which is similar in power with the XBOX.
Is that what you are hinting?
