PS2 cooling fan...
« on: March 21, 2001, 04:58:51 PM »
Has anyone had any problems with the fan in the back of the console? It seems to me that my PS2 is blowing out less air than it did when I first got it in Oct. Has the fan ever gone out completely on anyone?

My PS2 is still in great condition and that is suprising considering how much I have used it.

Maybe it is just dust, dust can jam the fan if you don\'t use it a lot, if not try cleaning the dust filters in the vents which may be blocking the fan, other than that it could be a power supply problem. (Meaning sending it to sony for repairs)

i have had no problems with my fan, but i have read a thread where someones fan did die on them, and thats not good ata ll, it will over heat extremly fast, and seeing as how less air is passing thure you ps2, it should already be getting pretty hot, here are a few thing you cand o to try and fix your air circulation:

1. clean both sides of the screen, clean the front screen with a vacum so that the dust wont fall all over the hardware inside that will eventualy jack up your ps2, do the same witht he fan in the back.

2. if you clean it often and still have the problem, get some air dust and blow it thrue the ps2 screens, especially the back on the fan, dust and such objects can be caught in your fan causeing it to slowdown or get all the fuzzy stuff cloging you ps2 up

those are the best thing i can think of right now, i will post more when i think of them, tell me if it worked :p
