Update:Quake 3:Revolution for PS2!!
« on: March 23, 2001, 08:14:38 AM »

PlayStation 2: David Ratcliffe, executive producer on Quake III Revolution tells FGN Online what new features we\'ll see in the PS2 version.

Based on id Software\'s PC shooter Quake III Arena, the PS2 version is expected to ship in early April. Due to the PC version being available for over a year now, a straight PS2 port wouldn\'t have offered fans of the game anything new.

Thankfully, EA has included a number of features from the recently released PC add-on, Team Arena. "There are many exclusive PS2 features," Ratcliffe explained. "The single-player campaign to start with, you can now choose one of five characters and build them up as you progress through, gaining more strength, amour-carrying capability etc.

"Players can then take their enhanced character and play against other people in multiplayer and we\'ve even given the player the ability to leave your single-player character as a bot on a friend\'s memory card.

"We have new characters in the game including the big bad baddy, Vadrigar (who you must defeat to win the single-player game), five new levels, new game modes including Possession in which you have to keep hold of the flag for a certain amount of time whilst the bots do their damned best to frag you, Team Arena levels, and some Team Arena weapons."

I don\'t know if anyone else is intrested but i decided to post this...I\'m getting this game the same day ZOE comes out....:D

This game is rather pointless with no online play, hell q3a ain\'t that great online anyway.

The good thing @ least, is that the PS2 version is running @ 60fps. (or so I read)

I hope that the PS2-Version won\'t have texture- or framerate-problems.

As i i\'ve got Q3A for Dreamcast i don\'t know if the PS2-version will be worth it\'s money, but i think EA will do a good job.

Thwe game looks pretty darn impressive IMO.

Supposedly runs at 60FPS

Its deffinetly a renter, with Red faction coming arond its hard to get excited about any other FPS for the PS2

I think Quake 3 will be an OK game, if you don\'t mind not being able to play online. And in that case Red Faction might be more fun to play.

I\'m going to get this game, just for the fun of blasting my friends :)

I love FPS\'s, and Timesplitters just isn\'t enough. I\'ve now been playing that game for over 3 months, and I want something new. Quake III is my answer.

Ah... new additions... this is like beautiful music to my ears... I love these news. I will get it ASAP, that means when I have money ( before or after ZOE? wich way around? :) ). Until then I play my AC2.

Hallo.
Ich bin von Itzehoe. Eine Kleinstadt ca. 40 km nördlich von Hamburg. :)

I think that Q3A will be a great game on PS 2. I won\'t miss the online-mode, because Dreamcast-online-gaming in Germany is very expensive. I never played the Dreamcast-version of Q3A online.

By the way: Will Q3A on PS 2 have (USB-) mouse- and keyboard-support?

P.S.
Nice to see a videogame-forum without masses of stupid fanboys! :)

I was just curious, but is the PS2 version going to look as good as the PC version, with lower res of course?

I was wondering because I rented Q3 for my Dreamcast and while it does run at I think 60FPS constant the  graphical features are nowhere near as good as the PC.  Yes the game still looks great but the some of the minor effects such as the little effect when bullets hit the wall or the lightning gun\'s cool effect just weren\'t included in the DC version.  Sure it didn\'t effect gameplay but it is still just \'cooler\' with these nice enhancements.

Please fill me in.....

P.S.  If you think I\'m dissing the DC I\'m not.  I love the system.  Just saying what I didn\'t like about the port of Q3 for it and if they\'re going to fix that for the PS2.
