3d modeling

Is anyone in this forum interested in 3d moddeling? I just got lightwave, an I\'m learing how to use it. Pretty cool I must say.

Does anyone have any experience in this sort of stuff, or with 3dstudioMax or Maya?

I´ve 3d Max Studio R3 but is very hard for me... it´s a career!!

Yeah, I\'ve been using 3D Studio Max R2.5 a while ago. My computer isn\'t quite powerful enough though, but it\'s an awesome program. I like 3D modelling, it\'s a shame it\'s so hard.

Isnt LightWave like a 2500 dollar program.
That seems very expensive.
Are you going to have a job with that?

THese programs are easily had over the internet.

I have had 3d Studio Max for years.  I can only do basic stuff with it though because I never really had a good computer to run it.  I may play with it a bit more now that I have my 1.3ghz.

I do a little 3d modeling.My brother has a company where they do all sorts of heavy 3d modeling,webpages,databases etc (all kinds of stuff).
I\'m maynly into Photoshop,I\'ve been playing around with it since 2,0 but I\'ve never thought of making something out if the things I\'ve learned since then.I might start to work my brother designing webpages.

I study animation at an Arts academy, although I
picked 3d animation up only since Febr. 2000 at a
multimedia company called European Design Centre
in my trainee months.
They use Maya from Alias Wavefront. Most of the stuff
I\'m able of at the moment comes from working with the
studybook \'Learning Maya 2\'. I got Maya 3 myself btw.
Since I do animation my focus is not so much on perfect
modeling, but more on animation movement.
Currently I\'m in my graduation year and I\'m very busy
on a short maya film which is gonna be about 5 to 6
minutes long.
I must admit that games like MGS, Silent Hill and Golden Eye are influences to me and my graduation project.

I have tried Maya, Softimage, Lightware and 3D Studio Max (plus all those lightweight progs like Bryce and Vue D\'Esprit). I like those sort of programs.

What kind of Creditblity does Softdimage have?  Thats the one my universtity uses.  I\'ll be taking that course soon too.

well if its any conselation, i make my own personal models for HL and UT, using milkshape 3d, and i make my own levels for UT wich i must say i have so many awesome looking ones, iv read so much editing info for level creating it puoring out my ears, i even made a UT multiplayer level of the mansion from RE, yes it is so awesome

Everybody says that lighwave is hard, its hard in the beginnig but later it gets easier and easier. I\'m just playing around with, just to have some fun!

Maya is the best but you need a heavy pc and win NT or Win 2000 to run it

It\'s a very professional program used by professionals.

You might have seen a little movie called Jurrasic Park...

I have been using 3ds max, and now learning Lightwave. Mostly for fun, but also for use in our demos.

Nalicity posted  my RE mansion map as one of the best maps, if you can find it there i hope, all my other maps have never been released, i liek to keep themt o myself
