EA\'s Future Plans for Sony\'s Shiny Black Box !
« on: March 26, 2001, 06:09:23 AM »
"EA Sports made an official announcement regarding new sports games today by highlighting release dates for future titles like Madden NFL 2002, NCAA Football 2002, NBA Street, and you know the rest. They are currently planning on releasing six sports titles for the Playstation 2 this Summer and Fall. As it stands, this looks like the Summer of 2001 will belong to EA Sports. First you\'ve got Madden 2002, which is planned for a Summer release. Then NCAA Football 2002, which is also planned for a Summer release. Along with the football titles comes NBA Street, aimed for Summer 2001. On the ice we have NHL 2002 which is the last game planned for the Summer of 2001. Other games like FIFA 2002 and Nascar 2002 are both planned for Fall 2001 releases. NBA Live 2002 currently has no release date, however, our guess is aimed towards January 2002."

Are you excited?!?

All they are going to do is update the roster and slap a 2 in place of the 1.  I really doubt they will be adding anything innovative or new, because they are developing all those same games for GC and Xbox.

Well, I\'ll wait and see what E3 says about them...

Now if only Sega Sports would release their franchises on PS2, then EA would be in for a fight.  Competition makes better products. :D

May you explain to me your line of reasoning?

Agreed :D...I think the E3 will give us a more careful description of these games rather than our rash statement...don\'t you agree?

EA announces its sports lineup for 2001.

On its official Web site, EA Sports has announced that it will release titles for both the PlayStation and the Xbox this year. The announcement of PlayStation games comes as no surprise considering the company continued to support the SNES and Sega Genesis long after they were no longer considered viable platforms by other third-party developers. The announcement of Xbox titles solidifies statements made by EA earlier in the year that it would support Microsoft\'s Xbox this year. No games were announced for Nintendo\'s GameCube. The complete list follows.
NBA Street - PlayStation 2 - Summer 2001

NCAA Football 2002 - PlayStation 2 - Summer 2001

Madden NFL Football 2002 - PlayStation 2, PlayStation, PC

NASCAR 2001 - PlayStation - Fall 2001

NHL 2001 - PlayStation 2 - Fall 2001

Madden NFL Football 2002 - Xbox - Fall 2001

FIFA 2002 (working title) - PlayStation 2, PlayStation - Fall 2001

NASCAR 2002 - PlayStation 2, Xbox - Fall 2001

Notghing announced for GC, 2 titles announced for Xbox

Doesn\'t look  like EA is jumping on the Xbox bandwagon either.

Madden 2001 was a kick ass game, and you know it will get upgrades in all areas. EA learning the PS2 hardware can be attributed to it lacking a few features and the fact it was to be a lunch game as well.

Also EA knows how much maoney to pur into certain franchises and still make a profit, thats why EA is the 3rd largest Videogame maker in the industry.

If people didn\'t like there games they wouldn\'t sell so well.  So those of you who ***** just don\'t buy the games, but obviously EA appeals to alot of gamers

Outside of SSX, I haven\'t bought a new/full priced EA game in 5+ years... And while they may appeal to lots of people, it doesn\'t make them good.

Actually it does make them good, becuase if your not good people won\'t buy your games.

It may not appeal to you or a few others but it sure as hell appeals to alot and that is all that counts.

I doubt EA will change to please the minority

I doubt EA will change too, but have you been inhaling toxic gases lately? Your logic is moronic at best. It sells, so that makes it good? What? So Army Men, Spec Ops, Pokemon, and the Tomb Raider series (all having been good sellers) are good games, right? Damn, you seem to be getting real dumb with certain topics lately....

listen Ethugg, it seems to me that so many people out there like yourself think only what they like is good.

I think EA doeas a really good job on most of its games.

Madden i s agreat game. NHL2001 is a great games SSX is a great game

A few EA games didn;t meet expectations but its still 1st generation PS2 games and EA is in the business of making money. They know how much money to sink inot each game franchise. They are not going to pour and extra 5 million inot a game that will never sell enough to make it back just so you can say its a great game. There\'s a balance between making masterpieces good games and going bankrupt

My logic is far from faulty, I just have a clue why some games don\'t live up or set new expectations

Alot of gamers like yourself expect nothing but perfection, but I don\'t think any gamer in this forum would spend $100 for a game to cover the resources needed to make these gems.

BUT over 2 or 3 generations of games on  the PS2 EA will be able to combine the resources expended inot its games and gradually make them better and improved.

as for Pokemon and Armymen. If you we\'re the company that made these games and millions of people bought them then would you listen to the people that say they suck or would you make those games for the group of people who enjoy them.

ETHUGG you obviously have allowed yourself to believe that only the games you like are  worthy. That the millions of people who like these games are idiots, which they\'re not.

Its no different then Sega Zealots or Nintendo Zealots insiting that these 2 comapnies are untouchable and nobody compares which I don\'t agree with in the slightest, so does that make me an idiot
