Magic gate is Sony\'s patented memory format.
It works on all there digital cameras, digital camcorders and computers.
This leads me to believe that sony will be releasing a larger memory card based on this patent.

isnt magic gate making the PS2 modem as well? i thought i heard this somewhere, but yeah it has to do with the memory cards

magic gate is the incripton standard for their memory cards...not a company, so they cant make the HardDrive (if im wrong, shoot me now)

No...you are right Bob.
Its the format they use to store the data.
They made it universal so they didnt have to make different kind of compressions and cards for different uses when it comes to digital cameras and such stuff.
