endurance races in GT3
« on: April 04, 2001, 02:14:32 PM »
There were a small number in GT and then there are quite a few endurances races in GT2.  I found these races to be a bit too much (although I sat through them all).  Are there many of these races in GT3 and if so, do you guys really think it is necessary too have a 99 lap race?
If you need help,
I will be there for you my friend,
I will never let you down.

You know, I\'m not sure it there is an endurance race.  But this screen shot looks like one because the cars looks modified.  Endurance races is where you get the best cars and see if you are a good driver to last in the races.  So it is important to have it.  :D

Can you see if the menu reads endurance.

Endurance races are a great way to kill two birds with one stone:

1. Really learn the track well.
2. Win a great prize car and loads of cash!

I think the endurance races are great, especially if you pick a car that keeps you competitive with the NPC drivers and you don\'t end up running with the pack through the first turn and then smoke them all, passing one or two on occasion.

I know that for some people *cough ADD cough* it can be boring to go 99 laps on a single track but I think it adds a dynamic not available on the 2-3 lap races.

Also, if I remember correctly, not only are there more license tests on GT3 than GT2 but there are also more endurance races.

Going around the same track x number of times can get boring unless you\'ve got a sweet car or a friend near you to take your place once you get tired.  I hope future racing games feature an endurance mode that doesn\'t "loop," but instead is more of a cross-country type thing.

This is going to be great.  I love sitting down and racing for 2-4 hours straight.  The funny thing is is that I didn\'t really like racing games until GT came out. :)  Just imagine racing 100 laps on the new Complex String course.  It will take all day. :D

Man i really want that wheel! The only problem I have nothing to attach it to. The only table in my livingroom is a small, bout 2\' high coffe table, with no place for attaching a wheel. Does anybody know somekind of cheap object thata works well for attaching those force feedback steering wheels?

On topic
I dig the endurance races and have no doubt they\'ll remain in GT3. My only gripe is that you definitely need to be able to have more than 100 cars.

I actually completed one of the endurance races recentlly (think it was the Grand Valley East one ) and I thought it was odd that after I won it didn\'t mention that I should check my garage for a new car. And that\'sbecause there was nonew car, my garage was full, and my sweet reward disappeared into the void! Not only that I had a ton of station wagons and midgets that could have easily gone, but it was to late. This was seriously disencouraging, to say the least, haven\'t played GT2 in a while since.

You could use a tv dinner table to attach the wheel to or you could just build something, which would probably work better and wouldn\'t cost that much.

Yup, the Complex String is a monster indeed.  It logs in at  11659.3 meters.  It\'s easily the longest track and to give you perspective, Grand Valley Speedway is 4960.1 meters, less than half the length.  The only thing that comes close is the Test Track\'s 10343.3 meters, though almost all of that is absolutely straight!

Endurance races are worth buttloads of money.  No one could touch my 550 hp Lotus Esprit.

I heard that all the track in Gran Turismo games are real courses.  Truth?
