She could be 8 years old on her second birthday if she was born on a leap year (Feb 29th). You sure the riddle is correct?

If she was on a planet that takes 8 years to orbit the earth. Technically she\'d be eight years old, after having one birthday. For example, a person that was technically 20 years old on Earth, would be 1.7 years old on Jupiter.

Maybe they\'re celebrating her first birthday when she\'s 8 years old - and haven\'t celebrated earlier - \'thus it\'s her first \'birthday\' :)

Nah, all good theories have been spoken out. I don\'t know what to add anymore.

dog years go by 7, not eight! hahaha :D

got me stumped, I think it was worded wrong though, going along with the leap year thing.

There\'s only one thing I can think of, and it\'s the planet theory. A year is defined as the time it takes for a planet to orbit the sun once. Therefore it can\'t be that she\'s on another planet, cos if so, even if it DID take 8 earth years to orbit the sun, it would still only mean she\'s 1 year old by that planet.

But maybe she was born in space?? (by that I mean on a space shuttle or something, not on another planet). On the way to the moon or something like that?? When she returns 8 years have passed?? Bah... that doesn\'t even make sense..

Another thing was how deadly hamster said she was born on the minute it changed from December 31st to January 1st, in which case she\'d have TWO birthdays, and perhaps it was on the FIRST of the two that she turned 8... but that doesn\'t work cos she\'d have to turn an odd number on the first, it\'d have to be the second of the two she turns 8....

This one\'s really getting me

She was born on February 29, 1896. The year 1900 was not a leap year (only centuries divisible by 400 are leap years), so the next February 29 fell in 1904 when she was eight. She was twelve on her second birthday.

Here\'s another Birthday riddle for you guys:

A woman and her grandson have the same birthday. For six consecutive birthdays, she is an integral multiple of his age. How old is the grandmother at the sixth of these birthdays?

1900 wasn\'t a leap year because 1898 and 1902 were I believe. The stuff that I read wasn\'t really clear on that though. I saw that only years divisible by 400 were leap years, not ones divisible by 400. I think it wasn\'t a leap year just because it wasn\'t it\'s turn, not cause they skipped it.
