Why did you buy Playstation 2?

1. The Hype

2. Metal Gear 2 Sons Of Liberty

3. Gran Tourismo 3

You knew it was going to be good no matter what I mean GT3, thats just one awesome game of many MGS2 demo should be counted as a game in itself

1. To throw it out of the tall building
2. use it for weapon
3. it can shoot disc
4. it have dvd
5. it can shock people
6.it can overheat which mean is fun.
7.to set it on fire.
8.to run over it with my car
I have lot more.

I was sick of my N64 and wanted some new challenges.  And the DVD was a selling point for me.

I got it because I previously owned a PlayStation and figured this one would be just as good and better. When I first heard about it I was excited...really excited. It gave me that kid-waiting-in-angst-on-Christmas-Eve kind of feeling... ya know the feeling. The first games I heard and saw were Dark Cloud (absolutely gorgeous) and early Gran Turismo 2000 (Now Gran Turismo A-spec) screens and movies. I saw the amazing Gran Turismo girl animation where every strand of her hair was rendered and swaying in real-time. I gasped at the the Duck-In-Water simulation that, every time I think about it, has surpassed anything the Xbox has shown (so far anyways). Early movies of The Bouncer made me cry in happiness that from here on, graphics will only live to amaze and bring joy and creativeness into our imaginations. Oh...my gosh...why, do you say, did I buy a PlayStation 2? Because, my friend, no matter what you tell me...to me the PlayStation 2 is the future of games. I know that Xbox is so much more powerful, but the PS2 is also powerful, and I\'m not going to abandon my favorite company. I lost hope for Nintendo since the N64. The future and potential of the PlayStation 2 is so amazing, we haven\'t even seen or scratched the surface of what this dream-machine can really do. That\'s all I have to say. My opinions...so don\'t hassle me...

because i only buy successful systems..........

well i bought the ps2 because i love the psx, i wanted to play ssx so bad, and to play of course ffx and mgs2.

I heard it was a top of the line toaster oven. Boy do I feel ripped off now....

• Because I loved Playstation and thought Playstation 2 could only be better
• Hype
• Graphical Powers - wich surpass my computer one-handedly
• To spend my hard-saved money into something
• To annoy my parents
• To have something to show to my friends
• To watch DVD-movies
• M.G.S. 2
• Wipeout Fusion
• Because I had waited for a new console for 5 years
• Because I passed DC after long and hard battles between the \'I will buy\' and \'I won\'t buy\' -decisions in my mind
• Because I didn\'t have the nerves to wait for GC and X-box :) ( just kidding )

those are the main reasons why I bought Ps2. And of course the hype around these forums had something to do with it - and all those great games ( last month I was finally convinced for the last time that this was the right decision to ME ). It is already clear that Playstation 2 has a future - and I wouldn\'t mind if it isn\'t succesful, and I wouldn\'t mind even if some MS and N-fans would bash me because I bought Ps2 - because at least I have some classic and very good games to play

     i got mine cause i heard about the ps2 a year beofr it was released arond the time the DC was released, everyone had there dc, and i said, in time will have the superior console andi waited 1 year trying to get moe news about it, then a few months before it came out i told my friend im gonna get a PS2, iv waited for 2 long to let it pass me by, and he said, well im gonna get an X Box, i heard its gonna be way better than the PS2, i didnt even know that an X Box was but  i didnt are, so on the day of the release i woke up at around 3:00 am and stood in line out side oof K mart cause i worked there and i knew we were getting 30 and since i had my discount it would have cost 270, well we only got 23 and the person in front of me got the last one , so i had to run my ass to Best Buy and wait in line for 3 more hours but i got mine, went home, poped TTT in and melted

i bought a ps2 because i knew there would be some cool games for it,i like what sony puts out,and the hype that was around it

for the games I cannot play on any other platform. And Ethugg Why would you hate gaming on a PC? No offence but I like your posts its hard to place you feeling like this. Nevertheless, its all about gaming pure gaming I could care less if the box was the size of a large TV with ten wires or as small as a tea cup with one as long as I am entertained. Its hard to believe I bought a gaming console and was so excited about a console that could only play one game and that game was Pong. Look where we are now. Amazing.

A lot of reasons :

1. PSOne gave me two years of happy gaming

2. A lot of games I like were coming to PS2 : Resident evil, MGS of course, Silent Hill...and so on.
It seems that Sony\'s games are just the games I\'m looking for.

3. Of course, the numerous publishers who support Sony

4. The DVD capacity, was a nice added feature

5. As someone said, Sony is a durable brand ; I own some active speakers from Sony, I bought them in 88 ;
they\'re still working fine...

6. It was Christmas !!!

I bought the PS2 so I can have a DVD player and gaming console.
I use both features evenly.

I bought it because i\'m a stupid moron,
that does not know what to do with his time.
i paid about $800 with 3 games for it.
gee, i\'m not even rich, how crazy is that !

=) I love the potential for it,
=( I hate its current games, except for ZOE, DOA2, TTT, and MGS2.

I hope the games will pick up, and i really hope
the graphics will pickup too, cause they are just
a bit better then a Fast PC with a GF3 board.
