Why did you buy Playstation 2?

I bought the Playstation 2 for several reasons.
1. I like Sony.
2. I have a PS1 and have played all the great games on it.
3. Im 25 years old, I dont play mario anymore.

Why did you go for the PS2?

I got a Playstation 2 cuz I like Sony systems.  I did not buy it for the DVD player. I just got one DVD movie. I know that the PS2 games will look even better and better as time goes by..........And I\'m 32 years old and i still like to play video games.

Nah kidding the real reason is that I was one of the first to get a psx (I bought mine in England,it hadn\'t even been released here in Iceland,keep in mind that this was shortly after the launch).
And I\'ve been wanting to get a PS.2 since I heard the first rumors.

I´ve been wainting for the PS2 since 1997.

:thepimp: Cost.  Even though they were ungodly expensive in november last year (700 CDN, about 400 US), I managed to get two, sold the second for 600US on Ebay, so it paid for half of mine.

:cool:  I needed a DVD player, and it works fine for me.

 I\'ve regreted not owning a PSone for a long time.  This was a chance to not only get a PS2, but go back and buy all sorts of games I\'ve wanted.

:nerd:  I didnt\' like a lot of the initial release games, but I knew that like the PSone the PS2\'s games would get infinitely better.  I\'m really looking forward to GT3, FFX, and Unreal2, for instance.

:eyemouth:  It was coming out waaaay ahead of the GC and Xbox (both of which I doubt I\'ll be able to afford, they probably won\'t have as much supply/demand problems right before xmas)

:wedge:  I like sony.  Their products last.  Walkman (11 years, many, many drops, I finnaly busted it when I unscrewed the case),  Diskman (6 years, one of the first ESPs 3 sec, still works great), 3 headphones (don\'t laugh, 5-2-1 years, all great), and a TV that looks as good as when we got it (4 years ago).

I bought my PS2 because:

1. I knew it would have great games!
2. I knew it would have quality games!
3. I like Sony!
4. I loved my PSX (still do..)

5.  My Compaq 386 doesn\'t support PS/2 mouse connectors.  I thought I was buying an adapter.

4.  That empty gap in the entertainment center was driving me crazy.

3.  Wanted something to impress my 9 year old nephew.  Now I actually have something none of his friends have.

2.  Wanted to buy one before the recession hits.  That way I\'ll have something to do while I\'m looking for work.

EmperorRob, why does everyone like DOA2 so much?  I just got it (at a reduced price) and I\'m so disappointed.  Tekken Tag Tournament is a much better game.  I honestly feel I could write a sizable post on what\'s wrong with DOA2HC, but I figured the game\'s been around a while and everyone\'s probably been over that already.  Do you think I should bother?

I like games. PS2 has exclusive high quality games and some enhanced ports. \'Nuff said.

Well Coredweller, you probably just like different aspects of fighting games than I do.  I like

• throws
• countering system
• graphics (which in my opinion are better on DOA2)
• freedom to speed-up/slow-down your combo attacks
• interactive backgrounds like level changing or wall attacks
• I also prefer the tag mode in DOA2 to TTT
• speed
• And I should be shot if I don\'t mention the chicks

Tekken is good, but it always seemed more like a slow fighter to me, at least compared to DOA2.

There isn\'t much debate on which is better; just a lot of the "which one should I buy" question.  In the end it\'s just a matter of taste.  If you\'ve played one Tekken then you know how they all play.

The reason I got a playstation two was so I can watch dvd porn on it. Why else would I get one? ...oh yah I forgot, I guess another reason would be the awesome games too.

My main reason was for its MANY exclusive games. Not port over games that the Xbox is getting.PS2 still has its own  exclusives.

i got PS2 because i\'m a former disgruntle Sega supporter who let me down again and again,plus Nintendo dissed Sony\'s cd add-on so i must diss all new N-products....oh yeah i forget that\'s not me,those are other people,whew..i thought those were my real reasons i got it actually i\'m the typical person who got one,PSX did well for me (backwards compatibility lets me relive old games),i owned past Sony products that lasted a long time,most game developers i like are continuing with PS2 and i like hype
