I know, I have broadband now, but I\'m going to have to possibly downgrade to narrowband soon(which is going to suck badly) I used to have prodigy, but I was constantly getting kicked off. Any suggestions?????

I say find a decent cheap ISP, then go with broadband. If you can\'t get access to cable / DSL, just go sign up for DirecPC, which is what I done. You can get up to 400k down, though, I am getting around 100k or so.

Do some research on-line...  But try to find a local ISP, or possible a reginonal one.

Try and research their infastructure.  If they have their own network and are not peering to much with other networks...

Like my ISP just set-up an awesome peering arangements with an on-line gamming company so online gaming moves with out much lag across my ISP...

There are so many things you can look at if you actually take the time and do the research.

I can\'t say which ISP I use, becuase I also work for them, so be a little violation of contract...  But do your research and you will be fine....

I\'m with roger\'s @home, and I\'m very happy with it.  They do sometimes have problems, but they\'re very, very quick to fix them.  Their service center is GREAT!  I called once at 3:00 am on christmas morning, and talked to a live person in less than 10 minutes.  There are there 24/7/365.  Also, they\'ve been upgrading constantly, so that as more and more people are using @home and the internet, my avg download speed (multistream) has gone from about 150k to 350k.  Pretty sweet.

To put it in more simpler terms...

AOL BLOWS!!!
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Best ISP is my ISP, b/c I get free cable :D courtesy of my employer.  Cable or DSL is the best way to go, but if that\'s too pricey then it must be 56k.  Either way you\'re usually better off going local b/c you can get tech support easier since they have fewer customers.

However sometimes regional companies offer good rates on DSL.
