ps2 probs......(I think...)
« on: April 17, 2001, 02:19:43 PM »
Maybe it\'s supposed to do this but does anybody have any ps2 games that have DVD on it, and when you play it do you notice flickering on backgrounds? It only seems to happen with me on white lines or white letters....... Well, does it happen to you at all? Is it normal? I got a 3001 model... help me if you can.....
.... take the skin and peel and back...

now doesn\'t it make you feel better?

It could possibly be your TV. Because of the way frames are rendered you might notice some flicker because of the alternating lines of horizontal resolution being refreshed. If you have a cheap TV this becomes more noticable.

In any case I\'m no expert, you should probably wait on Dolby, Videoholic or another of this forums resident video geniouses.

come to think of it I have a really, REALLY old one, it\'s gotta be older than my life! 1986! my dad says he got it somewhere in 1980..... I\'m gonna hook it up downstairs on my family\'s new one, a Toshiba made in like 1998..... I\'ll tell you later if I notice a change in the games.....

Dude, it has nothing to do with whether they are DVD format or not (if that is what you were implying).

It can\' t make any difference what format there on.

Because the media the game is coming off has nothing to do with what is on the screen.

IT IS DIGITAL MEDIA!

THink of it like this. If Namco put Ridge Racer 5 on DVD instead of CD, then the graphics would be NO different!

Developers would all be scrammbling for DVD if that was the case.

It is probably just couinsidense.

I don\'t think this can help ajoh but when your ps2 goes into a black screen eg  after u\'ve gone thru browser does the background flicker? that what happened to mine and my tv is a 1999 model... now i just ignored it but my power inside is now not working.. it could be that it\'s a coincidence or it could be that the problems linked... i doubt the last one.
