TOKYO, April 18 (Reuters) - Japan\'s Nintendo Co Ltd said on Wednesday it would delay the Japanese launch of its next generation GameCube game console to September 14 from an originally planned July start date.
The world\'s second biggest gamemaker had said it would release the successor to the Nintendo64 home video game machine in July at home and in October in the United States, followed by Europe next spring.
Nintendo also said that it planned to change its company rules to enable it to buy back up to 14 million shares, but it stopped short of giving the exact amount or timing of any share purchase.
Its shares rallied from heavy early losses to trade nearly two percent higher at 19,960 yen by 0520 GMT.
For some strange reason I\'m not shocked at all.... The U.S. got pushed back to november as well.
