I just realized G3 will never be the Ultimite Driving simulater for one reason and one reaosn only. In all of the 5,000 pictures I have seen not a single car with a Dead Bug on the windshield.

So close and yet so far.

In all seriousness, if there\'s no accurate (and visual) damage model GT3 won\'t be the ultimate driving simulator regardless of how pretty the graphics are, or how well the cars handle. I\'m not cr@pping on the game btw (I\'ve already paid for my copy) I\'m just stating my opinion.

No game will be the ultimate simulator then cause its the Manufacturers that won\'t allow damage

It would be cool if you in 1st person mode and you hit this big juicy bug that just covers the screen as guts slowly get wind spred up your windsheild and the wipers just spread the guts around

Then there\'s birds and farm animals maybe

Play Jarret and Labonte Racing on the PSX, licenced cars from Toyota, Nissan, Chrysler, Mitsubishi, Lincoln, BMW, Vauxhall, Audi and more. And you can completely F**k-up those cars - everything from smashing lights, to wheels flying off, to windshields smashing, hoods flying off and hitting other cars etc. Car damage is a huge part of the driving/racing experience.

Same goes for Colin McRae 2.0.

I don\'t know why Polyphony don\'t have a damage model.

I know, that was a start for the series, but that needs to be implemented into the simulation mode as well - racing is so much more exciting when you have the added risk of car damage, and it looks very very cool.

I don\'t see the point of GT3\'s new agressive AI when there are no consequences for the other drivers bumping into you.

they still want the game to be fun, hows it any fun if an opponent can hit you and you cant get near your top speed, it would just **** you over for the entire race

You\'d be surprised, it adds a huge element of danger to the races, it\'s really exciting in J&L when you piss off other cars and they try to get back at you. Part of the fun is also knowing that you too can screw over other drivers by crashing into them - in longer races you can also go into the pits to get minor repairs.

The damage model also means you need to have more skill to race - you can\'t simply bump off other cars or off barriers like in GT1 & 2 and you need to show more restraint and patience when trying to pass other cars.

ok the reason there is no damage is beacuse GT is a simulation for one and J&L is more arcade racing because trust me if your hood oor winseld and what not flys off your car - it is not gona keep running like that - plus if even one manufactuer says no to haveing damamge on its cars then all the others won;t have it either - they aren\'t gonna make some cars show damage and then not on others
This Sig is a Work in Progress.

I still think J&L had some pretty damn good handling - different damage has different effects on the handling and Colin McRae 2.0 has more realistic handling than GT2 IMO.

But you do make a good point with perhaps some car manufacturers not wanting damage - that could be the answer. However, I\'d prefer better gameplay with less cars, than no damage model and a few more cars.

Of course, very few people have played Colin McRae 2.0 or J&L, which is a shame because there\'s this huge misconception that a damage model ruins the fun of a racing game when in fact it does quite the opposite.

Saying that car damage "wrecks" the fun out of the game, just \'cause it ruins the championships for you is exactly like saying that Honda Civics should be put out of the game because they\'re worthless against the Supra...it\'s just part of the challenge of the game! If you are not fond of car damage, then you\'re just not ready for reality games...
