Seemingly another season down the proverbial bowl. If, for some unforeseen twist of fate, the
Sens pull through the next 4, I\'ll courier you a round of beverages to celebrate.
It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Senators fans!!?!?!

You think you guys are in pain? I am in hell, I am a Senator\'s fan living in Toronto!!! Jesus, the Leaf bandwaggoners are out in full-effect - the town was conspicuously absent of Leaf support 2 weeks ago, now every loves the blue and sh!te and thinks they\'re going to win the cup.  I am getting abuse from every single one of my Leaf supporting friends. You should have seen the Leaf fans parading around down-town as if they had won the friggin cup!!

I\'m going to vomit.

the Senators were outclassed by a more experienced team with a better goalie, a goalie with many years of playoff experience.  You didn\'t actually expect the Sens to win did ya?  Sheesh.

As for the Habs, well they might not be the strongest team right now but remember they have 24 cups, the most of any team by far.  Respect them.

I expected the sens to win, yes.  They were the favorites going in, and the favorites (in odds) in every game, even in Toronto.  Lalime is an excellent goalie too, but the sens normally amazing offence didn\'t produce $hiat!  Joseph was on a tear the first couple o\' games, and that didn\'t help, but lets face it.. the Sens are JINXED in playoffs!

Every time we get to the playoffs and we\'re favored to win, we lose in the first round.   Oh, but when we\'re the 8th place team, facing the 1st place team?  Then it\'s ok to win.  Stupid JINX!

I\'m a Buffalo Sabre fan, I shed no tear for Ottowa

time to dismantle that team and try again, that tema just doesn\'t have playoff heart. The Sabres were the same way from the late 80\'s to the mid 90\'s

How about the ass whoopin we put on Philly 8 - 0

Hey Fatal, you might wanna remember for next year that "favorites" don\'t mean jack in the NHL playoffs.  Anything could happen, any time.  Look what the Kings have done.

I HATE LA! anyway, the Senators problem was that since you dont get paid in the playoffs, they didnt care about them and didnt try as hard because of no money. Thats what Barry Melrose said at least........DETROIT FOREVER!

Yes, well Barry Melrose is just a hockey genius isn\'t he....not. :)

The Senators were favourites for the series, and they earned that right because they finished only 2 points behind the Devils for the first place in the Eastern Conference, and they went 5-0 against the Leafs during the regular season.

They lost because of two main factors - goaltending and lack of veteran leadership. Patrick LaLime is a decent goaltender, but his great regular season stats are misleading because Ottawa\'s defence is so good - it\'s similar to a Chris Osgood situation in Detroit - awesome defence, mediocre goalie. This was prevalent through the series, because in the first three games the Sens heavily outshot the Leafs but LaLime let in wrist shots from the blue-line and cheap wrap-arounds. Even Mats Sundin admited his overtime goal in game one was flukey, and Lalime gave up a GIANT rebound to Corry Cross in game 3\'s overtime. On the otherhand Cujo was simply unbeatable.

Lack of veteran leadership was a big problem for this team because they\'re so young - they\'re they youngest team in the NHL - Redden, Bonk, Fisher, Hossa, Havlat, Rachunek, Phillips and many others are all under 25. It\'s a big problem when you\'re veteran leaders are Shawn McEachern and Rob Zaumner. Marshall Johnston (Sens GM) will have to adress this - as well as the fact that almost half of the roster is up for free-agency and the sens have limited funds.

While the loss was disapointing, as a franchise the Sens have nothing to be ashamed of. They have the youngest team in the league, with the lowest payroll in the NHL (yet the finished as the 4th best team in the league in the regular season), and they have very promising young stars - and even though quite a few will inevitably leave because the Sens simply don\'t have the funds to keep them, their scouting is second only to the Avalanche and Sharks - just look at this season with the additions of Havlat and Rachunek, and it was good to see a fit Mike Fisher too. All they need is to add some verteran leadership, and improve the goaltending and their first round blues will be over.

Ah, nothing like rooting for the underdog...oh wait, you weren\'t. :)

The Avalanche will have to play a hell of a lot better than they did against Vancouver if they want to beat the Kings. They sleepwalked in every game against the Canucks except the last, and even though they still swept the series, the first three games were all one goal games, and this was against a Canuck team that had Cloutier/Essensa in net, and were missing their best player and captain Markus Naslund.

Of course, I still think the Avalance will win. ;)

The Redwings are getting too old I\'d give that team a year or two at best and then almost everyone will be over the hill - but fortunately, you guys do have a lot of cash, and I wouldn\'t be surprised if the Wings splashed some of that cash this summer on one or two of the many free-agents on the market. Lapointe will be a free-agent this summer right?
