PS2 Dropship looking GOOD!!
« on: April 21, 2001, 12:14:54 AM »
When Dropship frist made its early appearance to the world, it lacked texture detail and basically looked like crap.  However the good people at Camden\'s Studios(which use to be game developer Psysnosis) has spruced up Dropship with some hefty shots of visual steroids.  And made it a graphical Hulk. Camden Studios is still working on Dropship.  Don\'t expect this game to come out the end of 2001 or even early 2002.  With so much time to work on Dropship. You can expect Camden to make the game more eye poping and jaw dropping game. Camden Studios, Psysnosis? That\'s why this game is jaw dropping!   It\'s a cool game!  :D

Yeah I must admit these shots shown here are a lot better then when I first seen some DropShip footage.

The game is looking pretty good.

Wow, the new textures are awesome. I hope the gameplay is ok. When is it coming out?

Is it me or is the whole PS2 is hard to develop thing straight out the window now, because so many games look good now,all we have to do now is wait,ok that enough wait i want them now.
On the 15 of March 2002, i was going to leave these forums for good.
But on the 16 of March i realised i couldn\'t ever say bye to you guys, so i am staying here for good!

Yeah the majority of PS2 developers are really getting to grips with this powerful toy.

I mean within the past weeks we have seen the likes of Red Faction with news that its locked at 30 fps. ZOE great graphics with no slowdown, GT3 and MGS2 demo which I won\'t even bore you by telling you there good :), Quake 3 etc.

Along with new footage of games all the time.

Things are really looking promising.

If you had asked me what I thought of the PS2 a few months ago my opinions would of been different to what I think now. This console is classy.

Also in my opinion the PS2 developers should be able to improve the games so much more over time. :)

Things can only get better from here on in.

Wasn\'t the originally programming difficulty problem due to Sony packaging poor documentation with the development kits?

Maybe but I think the main problem was due to the way the PS2 was designed.

It has a different type archetecture to most standard consoles. This causes a few "problems" that can be overcome once the developers learn different techniques with the console.

An example of this was that a low amount of VRAM means that developers need to use a streaming technology to allow games to have larger textures.

1st.) This game is extremly highly anticiapted by me, hopefully it will be innovative

2nd.) These shots are 6 months old

3rd.) I suspect E3 to show this title off as well

4th.) this game online head to head would be awesome, or could you imagine 2 on 2  or 4 on 4  teams each dropping off and protecting troops

probably not going to happen but the game can be one heluva action/strategy/flight simulator

yea as ddaryl said, those pics have been shown awhile ago but still looks good (except texture on the building structures)...i wonder when we\'ll see pre-E3 screens of the game.....in fact i wonder when we\'re going to see pre-E3 screens of games we are highly anticipating. i remember they did that last year the week or two prior the event, but since there is three consoles in the running,i\'m very anxious for pics shown just before E3 (hopefully less tech demo pics and more actual gameplay pics :) )
