Legacy of Emotion Demo

If you haven\'t already, you\'ll need to download the RTP file from any of the sites listed below:

Mirror 1
Mirror 2
Mirror 3

After installing that, then you\'re ready to download the actual demo.  When the download is complete, unzip all the files and find the RPG_RT.exe file.  Click on it to begin playing.
The demo has been play-tested numerous times, but even that is never enough to find all the bugs.  If you encounter any such problems, please report them.

I hope you all enjoy the game!  :) Please post any questions, comments, or concerns after you\'re done.

The mirror links didn\'t work for me.

1) file not found.
2) asked for a password.
3) managed to actually completely crash IE6.0 (stupid microsoft).

The main link worked fine!

EDIT:
How in the world do you install this though - the game.exe won\'t run (missing crown.***), and I did unzip it with subdirs... then setup says it can\'t find a few lzh files to install and aborts too!  Argh!

Woah. Good job. :) I haven\'t really gotten into it yet but it looks cool.
Very nicely done. The intro is really good.
182 Studios. lol.

By "Emotion" you mean the PS2 processor, the Emotion Engine, right?

BTW is there anyway to minimize the freakin thing?

Well I finished the psx2central part of it.Looking forward for part 2.
Will I be in part 2?If so will I be playable?Last time I wasn\'t sure if I wanted to be playable or not,but now I\'d like to be playable.

Anyhoo about the game.It\'s good, but I have never had enough patience for RPG\'s.
Those battle\'s get old kinda fast especially in theceremony part for that other forum,I don\'t think my Enter button has ever taken such pounding.

But all in all great job.

I\'m glad to see that almost no one has run into any problems running the thing.  That was my main concern when I posted the link.

Anyway, here it goes...

FatalXception:  Try clicking on the links sometime later (if you haven\'t already).  Maybe you just tried them out at a bad time or something.  Also, your problems with the main file probably came from the fact that you don\'t have the RTP.  The RTP contains pretty much everything you need to get the demo going.  Try doing everything you did after you install the RTP, and it should work.

Solid Snake 88: Yeah, Emotion = Emotion Engine, basically.  I was having trouble thinking up a title, and then it just popped into my head to use the word "Emotion."  It\'s such a cool word...
Oh, and I don\'t know of any way to minimize the window.  Someone else may be able to help you, though.

nO-One:  Yeah you\'ll be in the final game as a playable character.

And thanks for all the compliments, everyone.  If you like what you played in the demo, then prepare to be blown away by the final game.  :)

I played to the first saving-crystal, the ceremony part. And I\'m truly impressed - great job \'Ways! The musics, the graphics, the characters... all great!

I\'m truly waiting forward to the final version - where I hope I\'ll be playable ;)

Truly - your game inspired me to try, and maybe I will after all...

Yeah, you\'ll be playable, Darth Joyda.  I can even upload the facepic that I\'ll use for your character if you want.
Thanks for the good words, and you should try making your own game.  It really helps to burn some free time.

"Cannot open file system2"

I have no idea what that error means or how to fix it.  Little help here...

Here\'s how I got mine to work.

1.  Run and install the .exe found on the three "mirror links".

2.  Download the main link.

3.  Unzip the main link - be sure you got subdirs.

4.  In the newly unzipped dir, run the RPG_RT.exe file.  If that doesn\'t work, I\'m outta ideas.  (I ran the setup.exe too, but that was before I had the rtp shell, and it failed, so I don\'t think that helped)

- What\'s your OS?

OS = WinME

I see the "system2.png" file in the exe\'s dir, but for some reason it\'s not running it, or maybe that isn\'t the system2 file the game is talking about.  In any case, running demo = no good.

Go and re-unzip the files, and make sure to make original directories.  My system2.png file is not in the same dir as the .exe, it\'s in /system --> there are 13 subdirs it has to make....

I got it to work, I dragged and dropped the info earlier rather then just unzipping it the correct way.  Anyways, GREAT demo.  Gr81 was HILARIOUS and I looked pretty neat.  I can\'t wait to be able to use myself later, damn sweet if you ask me.  One comment though, you might want to give each character a distinct animation when they are being introduced so we know who is who.  I would also like to recommend some midi versions of some popular FF\\CT\\SOM\\other RPG\'s music so the game flows more nicely.  Good midi battle music would make those battles less boring.  I can assist you if you like when the time is right.
