A thread about BEER - how can you resist?
« on: April 25, 2001, 08:10:02 PM »
Well, after hearing Lavan mention in a previous post that all us Canadians do is watch hockey and drink beer(it\'s true ... at least during playoff season).

I would have made this a poll, but there are way more than 10, and I\'m not sure if what we drink in Canada is the same as in the US (popular brands, Molson, Coors, etc), and I\'m sure it\'s not the same as overseas.  I decided to ask:

What brands of beer do ya\'ll drink?

Moosehead - ahhh, Canada\'s oldest independant brewery...  Pretty much all I drink, 24 outta 25 times... A smooth tasting lager, with hardly any aftertaste at all....

Kokanee - A slightly cheaper beer, from BC, not bad, stronger flavor, little bitter aftertaste.

Damn!  I forgot Guiness!  I guess I was still in "stay at home with friends drinking storebought beer for the playoffs" mode, rather than "goto pubs, where Moosehead/Kokanee isn\'t always available" mode.  Shucks.

Funny you should mention that, because I got a Samuel Smith t-shirt from a pub when I was in London, and I happened to wear it today.  Sam Smith is good, but I think it doesn\'t travel well across the Atlantic in those clear glass bottles.

I prefer real beer; in other words German beer.  I like

Bitburger (http://www.bit-koeln.de/)

Warsteiner  (http://www.warsteiner.de/)

Jever (http://www.jever.de/)  Ah yes Jever is still virtually impossible to find in North America, but I have good memories of it.

Also Valentins and Eichbaum (don\'t ask).  Of American Beer I usually just buy Anchor Steam or one of the few Weizen Biers you can.  I can never get tired of that.

I\'m so glad I love beer.  Like wouldn\'t be the same without it.

The hell it don\'t. Its the nectar of the Gods, I\'m sure they keep the bottles out of the light. Thats the only time you get into trouble with clear bottle beer, and all Sammy Smith beers are dark which doesn\'t go skunky like a regular blonde beer

Nut Brown Ale is to die for, I love them

I\'m always getting different brands. Lately I\'ve really gotten into Amstel Light

For the "older" people, remember the TV commercial..."99 calories never tasted so imported, until they-imported Amstel Light" :)

I drink Coors Light.  It\'s cheap and it tastes pretty good.  The best part is the next morning you won\'t have the sh**s or puke.

I live on Bass Ale.  I also love just about any of the micro brews out in Colorado.  I don\'t know if I enjoy going out there skiing for the snow or the beer.

Oh yeah, Unknown:  You have become quite the conasuer (sp?)  of alcohol for still being in high school.  You gotta love it.
I wear a necklace now because I like to know when I\'m upside down.
