Talk about a waste of time and space.
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

You can waste space by putting crap there. Time can be wasted by spending it on something that was unimportant, or could have been better spent elsewhere. This topic was in fact a waste of time and space.

If you agree that the univers is an infinte entity, then that is partially true. However, the amount of space that is here on Earth is a finite amount. So is the amount of memory on computers, servers, and everything that runs the internet. There\'s a finite amount of information that can travel from one place to another.

Time is of course finite for human beings, so wasting time for a person is very possible.

Only if you don\'t believe in reincarnation...

And the amount of space \'on earth\' is irrelevant. Everything is a part of the universe, which is infinite.

The size of the Earth is very relevant, because that is all that we really have access too. The amount of space for people to exist is limited because the only place they can live is Earth. The fact that the Universe may or may not be infinite doesn\'t affect how many people can fit on this planet, or how many buildings can fit on it.

As far as we know, reincarnation doesn\'t exist, so scientifically (sp) time is finite for all human beings. You can use something that people choose to "believe" in as an argument. A person can believe anything they want, reincarnation is one of those things.

Earths size isnt relevant, and you can\'t own time or space, so its just as much mine to waste as yours.

I never said anything about anyone owning time. My point is that time and space can be wasted. Wasting time is more one\'s personal opinion about how their time was spent. Wasting space is also someone\'s opinion, but taking up space is not. The facts are:

I feel that the original topic posted was a waste of time. (This MUST be true, because I feel my time would have been better spent reading other topics)

This is taking up space. (Clearly it is taking up space. Whether it is wasting space or not depends of course on how you feel about the topic. I think it could have been much better suited for other things, others may disagree. In any case it is taking up space.)

So you \'feel\' your time was wasted...

Again, regardless of a humans lifespan, time is infinite.  You can\'t waste it. It\'s a human concept.

Space can\'t be wasted either, as there are always the same number of atoms in the universe, and shifting them around doesn\'t \'waste\' them. It alters your perception of what they combine to create.

I don\'t think this is going anywhere as your whole mindset is too \'human\' centered. When you die, the universe will still be doing what it does, even then.

Well, it\'s been a pleasure, but I have to go to bed now. I\'ve got to work out and then go to work in the morning. As you can see, there\'s a finite amount of sleep that I can get between now, and 7am. Anymore time spent on this discussion would be a waste of my time, because at this point I feel that sleep is more important for me. :)
