omg... the japanese anime classic Akira will made into 128 bit glory on the PS2... here is the article:


According to a report by ICV2.com, a PlayStation 2 videogame based on the classic Japanese animated film Akira is being developed by AIA, a new game company made up of veterans of the Dreamcast horror adventure Illbleed.

Heading up the company is Yoshiaki Kanazawa, former chairman of Jaleco. The game is slated to arrive in late summer, a few weeks after Pioneer releases the remastered edition of the film.

The game "is said to take full advantage of the three-dimensional potential of the Playstation 2 format," but no other details are available. AIA was not reachable for comment. For further Akira information, stay tuned to IGNScifi.

Sounds interesting  I bought Akira for my friend off of Ebay.  Many people worships Akira as one if not the greatest anime.  I beg to differ however since I\'ve never actually seen it but a game does sound interesting.  Now if they\'d only start talking about some Dragon Ball Z games;)

Akira rules.I first saw it in Japanese in the theaters.The movie was cool as hell.

I recently have had some kinda cartoon mania I need to see all the stuff I watched as a young lad. They include:

Akira
Transformers
Thundercats

and a whole lot more.
I would like to thank the internet for providing the means to get my hands upon these gems :D

ohh and to stay on topic.Can\'t wait for the game :)

If the Akira-game will be as good as the anime, than it should be some sort off killer-app. for the PS 2! The company that made Illbleed also made Blue Stinger. BS isn\'t that great so i still have my doubts if their first PS2-title will be worth it\'s money.

P.S.
I also would like to see an Neon Genesis Evangelion-game on PS 2! Some kind of mech-sim-, action or action-adventure-game would be awesome! :)

akira the manga film, yea ive seen that, i dunno why i thought the thread was about something else, not akira the game. Doh. Fist of the north star is excellent, they should make a game of that

Akira isn\'t out on DVD - yet....

AKIRA RERELEASED ON DVD

They never released Akira on DVD, only in germany can you get it, and it\'s poorly done.  This company is going to re-release Akira in THEATERS and on DVD, after spending over a million bucks redigitizing it, and redubbing the voices.  Anybody who\'s a big anime fan like will will care....

Does anybody have UROTSUKIDOJI Perfect Collection on DVD?  Man that\'s a sick anime flick!  The second disc\'s animation isn\'t as good as the first, but it\'s still cool.

Akira the game, ha !
Didn\'t you ppl realize there actually already
WAS an Akira game released. It was I think
about 4 - 6 years ago. It was in the 16 to 32 bit
transition era. And it was 2D.
Right now I don\'t have anything to prove this,
but take my word I saw screenshots.
