Man, those screens are almost 2 days old now. Well at least they finally REVEAL some about the game. The shots are IMPRESSIVE to say the most, and at E3 we will be greated with HIGHER QUALITY images, and movies *crosses fingers*

Tony Hawk 3 will easily be one of the BEST games released for PS2 this year, and i bet each and every single one of you a 1 dollar it will sell a SH!T load of copies when it is released.

I do however like the idea that Neversoft included, which was the Earthquake feature in the LA level. I can\'t wait to play the level, and the FULL GAME.

New Details: Tony Hawk 3
« Reply #10 on: April 29, 2001, 03:08:01 AM »
There\'s no question in the minds of any gamers, we think, that Tony Hawk\'s Pro Skater 3 will be good. The current argument, in fact, is probably between whether it will be merely "ground-breaking," or in fact "epochal." It\'s looking like we\'ll be running out of superlatives come fall, though -- the June 2001 issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly is already busting out "captivating," "immediately impressive," "visually stunning," and "exploding with activity." Anybody got a thesaurus we could borrow?

The latest issue of said magazine is where the first details on the game can be found (it\'s reaching subscribers as we speak, and should be on stands any day now), and Neversoft looks to be living up to the great expectations of the game\'s millions of fans. Best of all, we might get something we never expected...online play?

As Activision has already promised, Hawk 3\'s levels will be bigger, more complex, and more interactive than anything on PlayStation. The Los Angeles level, a patchwork of areas from all over the metropolis, will include level goals involving pedestrians, passing cars, and even a massive earthquake. Once triggered, the temblor completely re-orders the level, opening up new lines through areas like a ruined 405. Humans and cars will be governed by complex scripting, allowing level goals like stopping a liquor store robbery.

The scratchbuilt graphics engine allows levels twice as big as Hawk 2\'s, with far less fogging and draw-in (if any). Every skater is getting a similar makeover, with more polygons and more refined animation. Limbs and extremites are defined in greater detail, and trick animations are due to go up another level. In particular, grind and manual balancing is being reworked for an added level of realism.

And speaking of reality, care to drop out of it for a little while? Providing Sony comes through with its as-yet-mysterious online solution for PS2, Tony Hawk 3 will be playable online via both broadband and 56K modems. Neversoft\'s fondest hope, in addition to vanilla multiplayer competition, is to create a sort of online skatepark, a place where players can congregate, communicate (with USB keyboards and chat windows), show off, and trade items in a large-scale community.

Whether this idea can become reality remains up in the air (watch this space for Sony\'s online plans come E3), Tony Hawk 3 should still be a fantastic solo skateboarding experience. Whoops, we\'ve already used up "fantastic" -- have to write that one off the list. For all the screens and all the details, including plenty of information from Neversoft staff and Tony Hawk himself, be sure to pick up the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, with all of Activision\'s new action sports games featured on the cover and inside.

This is that EARTHQUAKE screen. You actually cause that freeway to Drop down by grinding on something.
