Don\'t extend the polls so long! Here\'s my philosophy on it all.
We narrow down by half each time... (well sorta)
This will give us more of consensus, which means all those half ass names get booted.
Start with 10 in each poll. 5 polls.
1st Round) 3 Days
5 out of 10 will make it to the next round. Why 5? Most people will vote for their names, 50 names... that\'s 50 votes designated for your own name. If we get rid of the names going no where, there will be better results, making.
To sum up what I\'m saying is, Round one is a prelimnary round. Technically, a qualifying round.
2nd Round) 3 Days
5 names per poll, 5 polls.
2 out of 5 will make it to the next round. The real compition begins here. Less choices per poll leaves you with a better idea of what the people "really" want.
The Quaterfinalist will be chosen this round.
Quaterfinal Round) 4 Days
10 names, 1 poll.
5 out of 10 will make it to the next round. Your probably thinking... why only quaterfinals? The game now becomes a game of survival, only the best names survive. This is the Survivor of PSX2Central forums(cept\' much quicker)
Why another day? It\'s down to the top ten, and none of the names you like made it, you don\'t know which name to pick, well this gives you an extra day to make your decision. Also, this round is more cruciall than the previous 2, if people miss this vote it will make a difference.
The Semi-Finalist are chosen this round.
Semi-Final Round) 5 Days
5 names, 1 poll.
Your probably, yet again asking, why the extra step? Well if we want this team name on a level where all the names have a chance. Example, a few votes cost them from being 2nd... all because there were other names that took votes away from your name. This lessens or gets rid of the possibility of that happening.
5 days to decide who the finalist are. The best of the best are chosen here. The two finalist will be chosen this round.
Final Round) 7 Days
2 names, 1 poll.
This is the round we\'ve all waited for, time to decide just who has the better name. 50 names... narrowed down to two... all but one will be forgotten... the tournament of names will soon be over...
Nothing much else to say here. The champion will be decided here. (Sorry, no prize, just a Cyber-Pat on the back)
It may take a while... but honestly, we have a while to go before PS2 goes online. This will last longer, it will be more fun, and the race will be on. Ddaryl, please let me know what you think of this system opposed to yours. I would like you to consider it.
