definitely gamecube, but that\'s not based on the price tag. It\'s based on the fact that it\'s the system i want more. I made this decision before E3, and I can safely say after E3, and looking towards spaceworld that decision has not changed at all. I\'m a big fan of nintendo\'s franchises, and I definitely like the sounds of some of the other titles coming to GC. It was unfortunate that a few of the anticipated games didn\'t make it to E3, some of the games that will help expand this "kiddy" image to a wider demographic, such as Too human, PDzero, and RE:0 we have to wait till spaceworld for, but I have no problems with that.

Xbox interests me to an extent, but not enough to warrant me handing out another $700 odd (Australian) for one.
Probably the earliest flyswatters were nothing more than some sort of striking surface attached to the end of a long stick.

I think that MS will actually launch the Xbox at $249. They offer several advantages over the Gamecube and most people will realize that:

Broadband
Hard Disk
DVD player
CD Player

The Xbox is worth more than the GC, and when final hardware comes out and people take a look at it, then I really believe that they won\'t be dissapointed.

If the GC is $199 and the Xbox is $249, I\'d prolly buy the Xbox instead. For an extra thirty bucks, I get a progressive scan DVD player too. And for those who don\'t know...

A progressive Scan DVD Player costs $500!!! I can get one for $300 with the Xbox!

Hmm... now which one would I choose???

Xbox all the way! Rasputin you are least articulate person to ever post here.  Your generalizations about the software lineup is comical!  Third Party developers who no one wants? We\'ll see your ass will register on here in November under a different name touting the Xbox is the end all be all LOL!

SH!T. I accidently erased what I had writen. Ah well...

MistaWhoKnow****-the official price is $299. It won\'t change.

My choice is Nintendo\'s GameCube. I don\'t care what kind of special features the Xbox has. It\'s games line-up is pathetic. And we certainly don\'t play hard-drives on our TVs, we play games. NGC is getting the better games IMO so that\'s why I\'m chosing it over the Xbox.

Eternal Darkness, Luigi\'s Mansion, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Star Fox Adventures, Super Samsh Bros:Melee, Pikmin, and Rogue Leader are all scheduled to be released before 2002. I want all of these games and they can only be found on one system- GameCube. And that\'s why I\'m getting it.

If you want to look at it like that, we might as well say, We don\'t play CD rom based games on our TV we play Expensive, limted in memory carts.

The Hard-drive will take gamming to new levels in gameplay, as well as eliminating loading times.

I hate to say this but the real future of gaming will be no harddrive and constantly streaming data.

The harddrive is just a big band-aid for console gaming. It will be used to load quicker and store large amounts of data but by next generation DVD drives will be blazing fast as will memory. Constantly streaming data will always be the real direction not bigger larger storage devices. The HD in Xbox is thier because most programmers are good enough to write streaming code, and its a familiar part of PC game code writing

The only reason Sony is adding a HD is for movies, music and other types of broadband content, other  benefits will be downloading demos and extra levels, but this is just the added bonus.

This is what Sony could do..

Sell the PS2 for 199.99 with no modem and hardrive.
                                  OR

Sell the PS2 with the hardrive and modem already installed for 299.99.

I bet ya this is what Sony is thinking, it gives you more choices to make with the PS2.  If you don\'t want the hardrive or modem right now, you can get the PS2 regular and add  it later.  Or maybe you don\'t want a chunky hardrive but the modem, you could buy the PS2 regular and just add a modem.

Isn\'t this a kewl idea.

I love what I have in gaming on my PS2 and I can\'t wait for the great games still heading down the pike for same.  With that said, many games for the XBOX are looking quite nice.  Now with THAT said...given that I already have a fairly heavy-performance PC...don\'t folks think that games for the XBOX will probably port to the PC as well???  Just curious...

Its gonna have to be x-box for me I think.

I know some people on this board think that power doesnt matter but I do.

If power doesnt matter we would all be driving around in skoda\'s.

And I think developers are starting to like x-box.

The power makes it easy for them so no more short cuts or using software to iron out problems.

Well thats what they were saying at E3...

Also very interesting when a developer ?? made a comment about if GT3 was created on X-box if would have halved the time compared to a PS2 release.

I might buy the gamecube for my nephew..

He\'s five years old and that right up his street.

I\'ll take that bet. Why would Sony want to divide their own market?

GameCube Mini-DVDs is Nintendo\'s weapon for loading times. They load a lot faster than regular DVDs and CDs so GameCube doesn\'t really need a HD.

Only if that comment was made by Polyphony would it have credibility.

You don\'t need to predict the future to know that SOny is not going to drop the price of their console by $100. It is bad business and it would not make any sense.
